I still play the vanilla version and i have to say it seems better to me, not only the stages are more detailed, but also the characters seems to have more moves, Lion for example lost many of his signature throws like the one where he hits the enemy multiple times with his fingers or the one where he jumps over his head and use it as a catapult, or Jeffry lost his wall backdrop or his bodyslam. I know all characters have new moves, but they cancel a lot of the older ones and that's a shame.

Same here and so true! My personal favorite from VF5 Vanilla is when Vanessa catches your punches, she has options either to kick, punch or grab. Her VF4 Evolution options were OP though 😂 I like the new combo system in VF5FS/US better but the graphics and character models look so much better in VF5 Vanilla. I wish they could combine the look of VF5 Vanilla and the combo system of VF5FS/US

Should have compared vanilla vs. FS on the same console. Now there's going to be too many focusing on PS3 vs. 360 aspect of it. *Sigh*

I have both for the 360, while I like FS better than the original, FS took a big hit in the visuals.

Standart VF5 has lower resolution (it is 1024x720+2xmsaa vs 1280x720+fxaa) but it appears to have better visuals. But It's disk and have 5/6Gb vs 1.9Gb digital only VF5 Final Showdown. They even removed 5.1/7.1 surround and the voice overs are compressed to reduce hard disk space. yea its kinda dumb they did that, i know ps3 is stronger than 360 if you touch the raw material of the cell cpu but i found it hard to believe they did that, the 360 should have been good enough to do the same... but then again, maybe they where able to, there is a reason mgs4 could not be ported to 360 but with how hard cell programming is, kinda hard to know for sure

@@renesav So, I don't know if there is differences between the 2 systems, what I really know is that Final Showdown is a very high compressed version of VF5 Final Showdown arcade because Sega doesn't want to relaunch the game on disk and decided to do it digital only for both consoles. Digital Foundry made a comparisson of Final Showdown vs standart on both PS3 and 360 but I don't remember all the details.

Incrível como Virtua Fighter 5 é bonito de se ver até os dias de hoje pra mim em termos de iluminação a versão ps3 sai ganhando mas ambas são ótimas, uma pena não termos visto uma versão nova nesta geração

This wrong in a sense. VF5 For PS3 came out in 2006, Xbox version was 2007 online. FS was 2012 feb.

Brian Season change.. The floor destruction in BF is too overdone because the characters are not heavy. FS backgrounds are more straight forward and darker. But VF5: R has better backgrounds on Wolf Stage and Dojo and overall better music soundtrack

I thought 4:evolution's stages were inferior to vanilla 4 as well but the jaggies (ps2) were greatly reduced and characters looked cleaner. Final tune probably had the worst stages of all 3 versions of vf4 but is still the definitive entry. It is what it is

PS3 this easily in my opinion, after all the arcade hardware shares a similar GPU to the PS3. If you go to 1:03 and 1:30 marks of this video the PS3 better shading, and texture. Reflections are better, specular highlights are better. 1 stage they replaced the water with sand which looked worst on the X360. The X360 also appears to have a few more ghost trails seen on Akira when he's moving. At the 2:35 mark the X360 is missing stars and additional atmospheric effects. The PS3 version appears overall sharper, and has additional effects from reflections to specular highlights.

@@luckystrike2859 Technically the XB360 had 10 MB more than the PS3. If I'm not mistaken Sony OS consumed 48 MB of system ram and I think 16 MB of video ram while the XB360 OS was only 32 MBs total. The XB360 texture format was a bit more robust than the PS3 with normal mapping compression inherited by the 1900X series. The PS3 SPUs could do features in software the XB360 didn't support in hardware like MLAA, high quality volumetric lighting, and Parallex Occlusion. The XB360 on the other could pump out almost double the polygons (500 mil compared to 275). So I can give Sega a pass in regards to lighting effects and AA, but textures and geometric detail lost is pure laziness.

@Rawr Cookie We can only judge what's presented for comparison. Based on the presentation, the PS3 is the superior of the 2. I have the XB360/1X which always felt slightly degraded.

@Rawr Cookie Again, I can only judge what's given to me. What's hard to understand? Take a Ford Edge Titanium vs a Ford Edge SEL. Here's two SUVs made by the same manufacturer, same make, but different models. I'm assigned to judge the TI, and SEL models, only vehicles I have available to me. I can't render a judgement on the ST model when I'm presented with the TI and SEL models. It wouldn't make sense or would be disingenuous to say the least.

Been playing the PS3 VF5FS version online, and was totally unaware it wasn't, graphically speaking, the ultimate version of the game :O Lei Fei's stage in particular.....I know they made some stylistic choices to justify the downgrade, but the daylight stage is MUCH more cool.

@@wetmonkeyscalp9842 nope, wrong. 360 is like a 3 core vs an 8core ps3. When utilized correctly ps3 eats 360 for breakfast. Near the end of the ps3 you can really see it doing things a 360 couldn't. God of war 3, vf5,uncharted, last of us. 360 is great but ps3 wasn't a 600$ console for nothing in the beginning. It was a damn powerfull machine.
