I think him being direct and spelling things out is or for the more dense readers like myself LOL. I really appreciate it.

I think there are good reasons to not want Syl and Kal in a relationship but to say its feel incestuous is kind of crazy to me. I think my biggest issue with it is that Syl's mind is too dependent on the Radiant bond for that to ever be a healthy relationship. It's an enormous power imbalance between them. Also the fact that Kaladin isn't immortal would be an issue. Or that you can just want a platonic friendship between a man and a women in a story and not liking the implication that their bond is so deep simply because they like each other romantically. But I really don't see how you'd get an incest vibe from it.

Maybe incest is the wrong word. They have a bond in place that would seem weird if it was to become romantic later on. That's what I really mean

@@FantologyPodcast Ok so we basically agree, though I personally don't think a spiritual or soul bond automatically precludes a romantic relationship, I think the Radiant bond does. Unless the 5th ideal somehow changes the nature of the bond and its affects fundamentally. Like if at the 5th ideal the spren just pops into reality and has no limits on how far they can travel from their Radiant and is no longer dependent on them for their consciousness.

I'm not saying this with any further knowledge of WaT, so not a spoiler...BUT...it definitely seems like this could be a thing. Brandon has been writing about Syl becoming more and more of a "real" person thus far in WaT

Think this gets RAFOd pretty hard by the end of WaT...
