OH! I have a theory that Sakura's parents left him because of his appearance and so he was taken to an orphanage or something and he was adopted but they didn't want him either, just no-one else would pick him. He likely was left alone once again when he was older so he lived alone ever since, that's why he has no-one in his small room. (The reason I think that is because the tightrope scene it says ''Nothing we could do. Nobody else would take him." Which i guess could mean he went to an orphanage and no-one adopted him and when they shut down the orphanage the owners could have taken him in. This is what I believe, though I am not sure as it is not stated in the manga or anime about his family, just that he was poorly treated by the townspeople and likely was bullied until he got stronger (which from his old town causes him to have trust issues and think that everyone is like them until he goes to Furin where he is so confused by how welcoming the town was).
