Wind Buffeting Part 1

I've been dealing with an annoying buffeting problem. This video is long, but that's because I am covering a lot (so you don't have to go through the pain I did). There will be a part II, but do watch the part one. Hope you find it helpful. Please leave questions in the comments.

Everyone has given you a lot of suggestions…I wanna add one more b/c I had horrible buffeting and here was my solution. 1. I upgraded from a cheap helmet to a Shoei Neotec 2 - which I see you’ve done. 2. I put a lower seat on my bike. I lowered the level at which air can hit my head. 3. I put soft lowers on as you did. 4. I also put on the hard lowers as you’ve done. So, the missing link for you based on my suggestion is the lowering of your seat. Hope this and the blanket on your Nacell is the solution, thanks for the good Vlogs.

@@CaffeineAndGasoline You are always gonna get some type of Buffeting on the open road depending on the weather conditions...Been riding street bikes for 42years...If you are looking to ride with zero buffeting... Travel in a Cage....

I have a 2016 Ultra Limited with a stock windshield. I have 2 helmets that i wear. First one is a low profile half helmet. I get some buffeting on the very top of my helmet with that one. Second, i have a modular full face by Bilt (cheap helmet, so might be some of my problem) and i notice buffeting pretty much everywhere above the visor. I also get a ton of wind noise, way more than with the half helmet. Ive ridden a couple very short rides without and I barely feel anything except some wind right on the very top of my hair. I know its apples to oranges because i have a completely different bike with a fairing. I just ordered a recurve shield from Long Ride Shields and Im hoping it will relieve a ton of this problem.

The bmw r1200gs adventure model is supposed to have extra wind buffeting protection according to an owner I talked to. It seems to be bad in the street glide and road glide. The standard r1200gs does not have the extra shielding.

I had a wind screen with no curved lip and I had no problems with buffeting. It was in the eighties on my Moto Guzzi 850 California. I'm 5 ft 10'.

Hey brother. I spent over a thousand dollars on windshields (truthfully!) and even tried putting a fairing on my Cruiser. No good. Only solution is to just throw the windshield in the trash. Unfortunately this makes it really hard to ride in cold weather, as my jacket catches the wind and turns me into a sail. But if I ride in a T shirt and a Shoei full face with no windsheild I get beautiful smooth air. Glad you found something that kinda worked for you. Please post updates to your saga.

That is precisely my solution. Windshield only for 'winter riding'. I've ridden in 7C (44F) without windshield just fine (layer up). I actually enjoy the wind.

What you need is what HD does. Allow from airflow through the windshield via holes in the windshield

coming from under the tank, put your hands palms down along side the tank, it'll stop. Wind over the top and from underneath are meeting and fighting each other, you can see at 17:16 your shirt pocket being blown up.

try and remove the GPS to see if that helps. I have the 21 vintage with the windshield and I don't have buffeting. I also have the GTAir II. I have no lowers.

Honestly- I have been trying to figure this out for months. ITs almost more comfortable without the windshield at 65+ BECAUSE of the buffeting. I am going to try and LOWER the windscreen and give my helmet CLEAN air and just block the air to my chest. Its trial and error.

I think you need to increase the air pressure infront of you. You can do this by allowing more air to get through the front visor. Either by lifting it and allowing air from the bottom or adding a vent through the screen. Hope this helps.

Put Indian original lowers I had same problem. now I get nothing at all can light a cigarette at 30 miles per hour and no wind on the face at all at any speed

My 14 and 12 inch windshields both give me the same issue on my Springfield. When I put my arm in front of my head it stops. Think a taller windshield is in order. Saw Indian has a taller ome now.

Freedomshield. I put on a vent in it myself and now all the buffeting is gone.

Try half helmet, it worked 10 time better for me, way less buffering, plus is a more appropriate look for the bike. (Thats my opinion)

Get the piece that mounts to your windscreen that allows you to route the air to the height you need. Easy fix… not worthy of a video at least. Cheaper too. I typically purchase my windscreens from the EU. They put a nice curve on the top that does what you need. Also, wear ear plugs if you don’t want tinnitus and eventually vertigo.

I am the proud owner of a 16 Dark Horse and I’m going to share with you how to ride that beautiful bike… Get RID of that GAY ASS windshield!!! Push those Apes to at LEAST match the forks and twist the fuckin throttle into the wind like a Man! It WONT Blow You Off Your Bike…!! It WONT Blow You Over…!!!
