Thanks for such a hugely helpful series of warping videos. I had no idea what I was doing as I just got my loom from a family member. Your videos are super relaxing to watch too. :) cute dog!!

This has been truly helpful. Thanks. My antique Union 36 does not have a warp guide. Does anyone know where I might get a warp guide? Or make one that will work? Thanks again.

This is fantastic! Thanks for sharing!! I want to replicate it on to my Leclerc looms😊 Question, how long's the loom 45 inch or less?

Thanks for the easy to understand video! I just got a Union 36 loom from someone who had inherited it from her father and it sat unused for years. I don't even know where to begin. I have a lot of experience with different fiber arts, but not with weaving. The heddles are strung, but they look very messy - I guess from the loom being moved several times over the years. I need to figure out how to get it through a normal doorway. It's currently resting in the barn (no animals in there) because that's the only place with a door wide enough to get it through. It will eventually be in my studio - when I figure out how to get it there. Any tips?

Shari, if you download the owners manual it tells you what parts to remove to get it through a doorway.

Have you rewarpped your loom and tie on to the old warp so you don't have to rethread everything? Learning on my union 36.

Hi Karen. No I have not tried that method. I have seen it done. I change warp colors and patterns each time so it is just better for me to restring. I also don’t like the idea of tying all of those little knots😩. Thanks for watching.

What is the width of your thread guide? I recently bought an old Union Sectional beam, but that piece is missing.

Where do you source your cones?

I'm just getting into weaving rugs and really enjoy your videos. I have a Union loom that I bought last summer while on vacation. Your videos are the first that I've seen on KZbin that clearly detail the steps needed to warp a Union loom. I have a question, I see that you use the little metal warp guide that fits over the back beam instead of a tension box. I've read so much about the need for a tension box to keep all the warp threads the same tension but you seem to do fine and create beautiful rugs without one. Have you used a tension box or do you see any need to use one with your Union loom? Thanks and keep up the great videos! Jim

I have never used a tension box on any of my looms and I have not had any problems. I know a lot of people say you really need one but I try to keep it simple whenever possible🤓. That being said you should be fine on your Union Loom without one. Just make sure you wind on evenly and that will prevent most of your problems.

That's great news. I'm currently finishing up the making of 6 rag shuttles and hope to have this warped by the weekend. What is your usual rug width?
@cuttingtherugweavingstudio70856 жыл бұрын
Using 20 cones my rug width is approximately 27 inches. Good luck and let me know how it goes.

How do you thread the warping guide when you are using different colors in a pattern? I have looked everywhere for that info. Thanks Lorraine
