Graham, Your story of the Dutch woman is perfect. I am a 4th grade teacher and I expose my kids to the beauty of stamps throughout the year (sometimes showing your videos). I stress that there is no one reason to collect. Stamps can fill a need for many different people and while I use them as an education tool, once or twice a month, we just go through my hoard and kids can collect/trade/display or keep whatever they wish, for whatever reason. Thank-you for another wonderful season!

I've been collecting anything to do with 'pirates' so sailing ships, privateers, ex pirate explorers ect. Great video - I had not realized that the first postage stamp with a windmill was one of Don Quixote from Spain. I just assumed that it would be the Netherlands. That would make a great trivia question. Since this is the end of Season 3 - thanks for a great series. I learned a lot and many times went back to my own collection for a few surprises - I totally understand the Dutch woman collector - a big part of why I still collect is that it connects me with my childhood. I am looking forward to season 4.

Windmills. I'll never look at them the same again after this video. And I'll never look at stamps with windmills the same again, either. Thanks for telling us about your Dutch friend. My great-uncle introduced me to the hobby, and my great-aunt used to write a regular column for the Knoxville newspaper, titled "The Story Behind the Stamp". That, and living in Japan during my early teen years, cemented stamp collecting as a way to explore a widening world, and wanting to know the stories behind them. Your videos resonate as they take a similar direction. Any good collection combines the thrill of the hunt, learning about what you have found, cataloging, and displaying. Different balms for different moods. Great videos!

Lovely video, also featuring my country. Hope you are aware drone flying is only permitted in a few places (penalties in the Netherlands are not cheap). You took the right transportation vehicle, the bike and you covered a large part of the Netherlands. When I observed right also the very touristic Zaanse Schans near Amsterdam. The place to go for a tourist who would like to see windmills, wooden shoe making and cheese production in one place. A nice end to the season, keep up the good work in a new season, whenever it is safe to travel again. Greatfull to have stamp collecting as a hobby in this time of isolation.

I just started commenting stuff recently...and I definitely wanted to stop by here to thank you. I am the third generation of a philately collection that found its roots in the trips my grandfather took as a sea vessel mechanic. The collection has seen better days, but it's neglect from the previous and my generation had to stop. I only had brief interest in philately until I discovered you. Today, the collection has grown a considerable amount (possibly 50% larger) and it was because of you I also got I interested in topical studies of stamps, cancellations, first day covers and a new obsession of Cinderellas. I believe this part of the journey is great for my collection and for you finishing a fruitful season. With much love from a proud subscriber in the Philippines!!😍😍 By the way, the Philippines has very interesting philately. As a melting pot of culture, our post issues gold embossed stamps every lunar New year of the zodiac! You might want to also look at stamps from the period of Marcos dictatorship. A dark time, but its full of vibrant stamps! Again, congratulations to you my friend.

There's also a story behind the French windmill stamp: it shows the 'Moulin Saint-Pierre', a windmill in Fontvieille, France, that is featured in one of Alphonse Daudet's most famous books: 'Letters From My Windmill'. Hence the inscription 'Le Moulin d'Alphonse Daudet' (the windmill of Alphonse Daudet).

Amicalement / Patrice .

Hi Graham. I am Husnain Ali from Pakistan. I would recommend you to make a video about Joint Issues. Many collectors are not sure and have less/no info about Joint Issues.

Thats a very good suggestion Husnain, thanks for watching :)
