Despite mixed and often negative reviews about the Dr. Angle made by Moerman saying it's cheap and breaks and not to waste money on it, I wanted to see for myself whether or not it is actually garbage because it is a very cool product and could potentially mean the end of my frustration with brass ledgers falling off and creating a safety hazard that also damages the channel quite easily.
Hi SteveO! I love your channel. You have great advice and insights which I have found pretty useful. Even though I disagree with your review of the Dr. Angle, I still found your video on it helpful as it showed me what in particular other cleaners have issues with and may have been mistaken about. In the video, I saw how you had attached it to your pole and honestly I did that at first too. After messing around with it for a few minutes the idea hit me to flip the locking mechanism upside down and that made it fit snugly and work so much better. When it is attached correctly in this manner, it is plenty sturdy enough for its specific purpose, which is ledgework. To be clear I am not claiming it to be as durable as a ledger made from metal, obviously it wouldn't be, but it is far more versatile (especially when paired with an Excelerator 2.0) and has allowed me to easily clean some tricky windows that have regularly given me grief in the past in a safe manner. I have also briefly tried using it as a regular tip just to see how it felt and I do think it feels a bit awkward and like it would break fairly quickly that way. I do think it should be made sturdy enough to be used that way if one wants to use it as such and am looking forward to that if an updated version is released. I don't use it as my normal tip and I wouldn't recommend using it as such. I just attach it when I need a ledger and leave it off otherwise and that's been working great for me. I think using it specifically as a ledger is where this product really shines and finds its place in specialty tools. If you are willing to give this tool a second chance, I would be thrilled to see another video review on it after giving it a fair opportunity to show its value. Anyways thanks for reading and have a great day!
