To All, These are Aluminum child guards, NYC approved and made for protection of children falling out of windows. For windows on a ground floor, burglar bars are required, which stops thieves and intruders. In the event of a fire, every apartment is required to have one other means of egress (usually being a fire escape) that receives a child-proof fire egress gate that can open, rather than a child safety window guard. As opposed to big box retailers and ordering online, our guards are made locally in Brookyn. As opposed to steel guards sold online, our guards are powder coated aluminum, meaning the bars will not rust and break, and that the color will not chip or fade. Also, according to NYC HPD Law, child guards must be installed in the track of the window rather than mounted to the outside of window. The reason for this law is that mounting any window guard to the outside of the window does not provide the strength and protection necessary for the guard to work properly. Thank you and stay safe!

Edward Torres: I live in a 123-yr-old house - fortunately in a low-crime tiny rural village - that's not easy to heat and cool. It would help tremendously if I were able to put a burglar--proof guard on the back door screen so as to leave it open in the evening. But I can't find anything to fit the narrow doorway, which is at least 2" narrower than standard. Since it seems most or all of your products have to fit in a window slot, is there anything you can suggest for the back door in the Midwest which doesn't have NY restrictions? As I said, very low crime but not zero - and I've personally had death threats due to my typical damnYankee politics. After my chows died, I don't feel comfortable leaving things open after dark the way I used to. And I'm getting too old and gimpy to take good care of another chow or any other big guard dog. Chis might be barky but they don't scare anybody!
