Great job. I've been redoing the hinges and seals for the opening sections of my windows at the house, and ended up breaking the fourth one. Three more left, which is today's job!

Its coming along nicely, I am looking forward to the day when the caravan, loses its mustard 70's stripe, on the exterior.

Good video showing all of the processes. Could I ask at the 6:17minute mark what did you do to put the frame back together on the corners?
@feeandjohsrenovationshowАй бұрын
Thanks! There’s just a screw that grabs into the extrusion on the other side.

Hi what did you use to put the window frame back together around the 6:00minute mark?

In hindsight you should have replaced all the glass windows with 3mm Acrylic which is what all modern vans use. It is tougher, much lighter & much safer and comes in various shades or clear and if you had gone to a shop that makes commercial signs they buy the stuff in large sheets and lazer cut it to whatever shape you want, so making cardboard templates of your various van window sizes and dropping the templates off to them for cutting is simple. Also when you instal them back into your frames with the new seals there is no issue of breakage like you what happened to you

Sounds great, but we are trying to keep to a tight budget.

what glass did the Glazier put back in the broken one
@feeandjohsrenovationshowАй бұрын
Just normal glass. 3mm I think.

I’m surprised how different these are to the Australite windows in our Chesney - I’d say only 2 broken glass panels is a great effort for that many windows though 👍🏼

I think we lucked out in the repairability department with these windows. Nothing major missing or broken beyond what a rivet could fix. Still a painful lesson to learn on that first window break though 😅

Where did you get your window seals from and what size? We have the same van and just about to do windows
@feeandjohsrenovationshow2 ай бұрын
I think they came from the vintage caravan spares website. They have a few different profiles. Cut a piece off of your existing rubber to see what kind and size of profile it is. We went with 7 or 8mm.

Great video guys! Where did you get the window latches and stays?
@feeandjohsrenovationshow9 ай бұрын
Thanks! The latches were bought online from ‘Vintage Caravans’ and the stays are all original, just cleaned up and refurbed. One set of stays for the external shutter was beyond saving though as the thread mechanism was too rusty and sheared off. So I’m looking around for a similar system at the moment.
