What the heck, GE? You forgot to mention the inch-thick piece of wood that magically appeared under the unit around 2:24. I had to rewatch this thing 5 times before I figured it out. A big thing to leave out, isn't it?? Jeez.

@frylock64033 жыл бұрын
This video doesn’t mention that not all windows perfectly fit the ac unit. Like in this video, a 1 inch block of wood had to be used as a support but it isn’t included in the description. I’m having a similar problem with my installation but I don’t have some wood on hand, the GE installation should include the potential requirement of wood supports etc.

Installation went great. Unit worked for about a week. Then we had a power outage. The power was restored after about 5 minutes and the unit lost its mind… the smarts are all gone 😢 It gets power because every light on the panel is lit up, but it won’t operate. When I hit power it runs for 1-2 seconds - at best - then the air stops and everything on the panel lights up again. We’ve called every number provided online, and in the manual to get help, but it’s still not working. We’ve done numerous hard resets, as directed by one of the representatives and in the manual, with no luck. I think connecting to wifi - which the unit will not do now - is the main issue. Someone else said they wasted $400 and I agree. I’m going to look for a basic (dumb) “turn the knob and it’s on” unit that isn’t smart (yeah right) and call it a day. Lesson learned.

Did somebody notice the peace of wood underneath the AC by the window, to make the AC fits better for the video, those supports by the sides of the AC are no long enough to reach the base of the window, take a look to the other window while they're show the AC finally instaled.

This is why the portable A/C market isn't going away anytime soon. Look at all of those holes that need to be made into the window frame and window sill. Permanently damages everything, Imagine the cost and time to repair all of that if the air conditioner were ever to be removed from that location.

Pretty informative vid. We just bought a new GE today. Wifi capable etc. Love how quiet it is and we didn't get the super quit one. I would however love to know how the other one is constructed differently to make it less noisy! I have noticed that they are a lot longer in width than the non quit, even at same BTU. Can some one explain why that is and if that is what contributes to the less noisy units? Thanks GE!

can you send a link? the one that you purchased? thanks
@jnichols9412 жыл бұрын
I'm not 100% positive since idk what kind of fan motors they use but they have what's called "brushless motors". I know that those are much MUCH quieter than any typical motor. (They're typically used in things like hybrid/electric cars or any other kind of electric vehicle like scooters, 'hoverboards', etc. hence you not being able to hear them even when you're driving/riding it. Smaller versions of these motors can be found in things like certain drones, making it where they can fly right over you and all you're going to hear is the movement from the blades, or propellers, rather, cutting through the air. I imagine the same type of motor is used in those super quiet air conditioners, where all you hear, if anything, is the movement of air through the system. (Like I said though, I'm not sure about air conditioning.. Not a clue about how they work but when I hear about a virtually silent one, I think 'brushless motor'.) So yeah, there's a high chance I could be wrong. For all I know, they could've just insulated the fan motors so well that sound doesn't escape.. lol. This is a good question though so I'm going to look it up. P.S. I just realized this is a 2+ old inquiry, so you probably found out the actual answer already. If you did, am I right with brushless motors? lol.
