Absolutely ridiculous MS has insisted upon this kind of feature numerous times (with that chronology type thing in W10 for example), and nobody wants it, nobody uses it, and it is a massive risk for privacy, with zero improvements or benefits to productivity whatsoever This is yet another case of Microsoft coming up with made up "problems", just so it can devise a "solution" no one asked for. All as an excuse to gradually have more ways to snoop on your PC and deliver you more ads (or maybe even conduct industrial level espionage, or other nefarious hard-to-prove creepy things). No thanks.

Timeline feature in W10 was just a fancy UI for Recents feature that existed in Windows probably since forever, at least in W95 which has recent apps and recent documents in Start menu. Timeline just added browsing history from Edge which has been a standard to any web browser feature since it existed. Idk what's even the FUD about that since they just combined those feature and make a UI then integrate it to Task View. This Recall feature is entirely different though since this doesn't rely on Recents feature existed in Windows and Web browsers, but a new thing using screenshots and AI to triage them locally. There is a legit pricacy concerns here, but so far this feature don't require internet thus it's not processed through servers, it's completely offline feature that requires actual hardware for it which is the NPU. Which is why not all PCs will even have this feature either until they get a new system with NPUs built in, which is coming to all vendors like Intel, AMD and likely with Nvidia as well. Apple already has AI chip but not as powerful as Snapdragon X yet, but Apple isn't dumb and surely they already have something powerful in the works ready to be released soon. Your espionage concern is already a thing without all these fancy features. They can do that if they want to and you are targeted. They don't need those "spying" features built to OS. They have far better stealthy methods that you will not be aware of than these features that can be still turned off and actually publicly aware. Government has that intelligence capability is already 10 steps ahead and its almost pointless to even argue new features will always comes to attack us.

@@eren5919 hmm.. strange in me.. already rolled it back to 23H2 after installed for the first time launch on the preview channel... All of animations on desktop were so choppy (when trying to minimize and maximize some window).. and some of games (tried Dead Space Remake, and Ghost of Tsushima) crash out after the graphics stuttered like crazy

Actually the color profile that Windows is using right now is absolutely wrong to human sight. If you pick an image from any official provider through internet to work in a different monitor using a correct color profile you'll realize that colors are completely tweaked making it impossible to work images for any purpose. Ai also attempts to program any visual display with emotional distorting meanings. The current windows AI also distorts any musical piece into something which is also completely unnatural as for what is considered normal.

I'm one of that weird user who use M1 Macbook as a primary physical device that uses headless Windows 11 desktop to remote control via Parsec, but I would be curious to know that since I have RTX 3090 where it has far more powerful AI capability than Snapdragon's NPU, would I be able to use the AI feature including recall in the future update? I have no problem with Recall since it's optional, stored locally on PC and it's encrypted. What's the difference between that and simply your typical browser history and cookies? Oh, and Linux sucks, btw. Horrible drivers and software support.

@@robone9978 there was a recent interview with Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang, he said that the current Nvidia GPU, in this case, RTX 4090, is far faster than NPU from snapdragon when it comes to AI. He claimed that RTX 4090 has around 1300 TOPS, vs 45 TOPS from NPU. Idk about RTX 3090, but definitely a lot higher than 45 TOPS.

When do you think they will add that feature where the AI can see what you're doing and the AI call stuff. That's what am intrested in also will that feature be on normal PC's not recall since that will use NPU to not overwhelm the GPU. Since i have a beast 4090 build and just would like to share my screen with the AI that isn't even being run on the machine locally as it's using GPT 4 O so there's no reason not to add it on normal windows 11 PC's

the featuer your talking to only works on the local version of cp, which SO FAR require NPU - when they permit on gpu or npu cards, it will work just the same. you say "isnt being run locally" but mostly none of the new stuff works if you dont have an NPU or other hardware that can run it locally. The reason MS used verbiage about "other PCs" for later this year is because thats when Intel and AMD will have x64 cpu's that have npu's on the chip.

Maybe they might consider that in the future. Part of this a deal likely with not just Qualcomm but all major chip makers who is likely working on this already. AMD and Intel already have NPU on their newest CPU but not as powerful yet what Snapdragon X does that Recall requires as a minimum. GPU would be nice, but likely it will just consume more energy to do so. There might be some more at play here as well since it will need to factor other things, like the latency and performance interacting between different components. Much harder than just dealing with the CPU that has built-in NPU on the same package.

The AI feature like Recall requires powerful NPU, so it should not even affect games since its totally seperate chip that I don't think any games these days uses to begin with. Though NPU for gaming might become a thing in the near future though. They can make NPCs actually not dumb and able to probably generate scenarios, objects or something locally to enhance gaming experience. Maybe NPUs can be used to anti-cheat systems for multiplayer games as well.

Updates made 10 super bad. Just check driver latencies between 7 and an updated 10 or 11. Its insane and its getting worse and worse.
