Am definitely interested in replacing my ancient desktop with this. The desktop is mainly used as a main storage hub for my wife's and my laptops while using the laptops for backing up the main hub for redundancy. While it spends most of its life keeping the printers company in an unused room it is occasionally used to pull files for printing. I'm going to place an order and get in line for the eventual deliveries tomorrow.

Using SSD for long term storage is a bad idea. SSD needs to be powered on every 6 months or so or the electrons in the chips start to fade and the data gets lost. An SSD physically holds electrons in certain positions that represent a 1 or 0 in the code. When the chip isn't powered for a long time, your data will get corrupted. I'd use a good HDD for long term, or back up to DVD-ROM or blu-ray
@sk22ng Жыл бұрын
@@revolverguy All my data is ultimately backed up on two redundant large capacity hard drives and then disconnected from the system. This is to thwart ransomware attacks. One is stored in a fire safe and the other is in a convenient location for immediate access. I could rebuild the operating system and programs from scratch minus viruses inside of two days using a fresh hard drive. Never reformat a hard drive that has important data on it regardless of the reason. Instead put it away and purchase a new one to start over with. The data can usually still be read from the old hard drive using another computer. I have a box containing all the working hard drives from the past 25 years and all my data is still intact because of this.

Devices like this are great as a "hotel room" computer. rather than bring along your laptop, you can stash this small device in your carry bag and power it with the same (beefy) charger you'd use for your phone. Then just stash a keyboard/mouse in your suitcase, and you're good to go using the LCD TV in your hotel room.

I have just bought the M6 with 16Gbyes RAM and I am amazed so far with its performance. It is so amazing that I have not yet got full confidence in it because it is so tiny compared to my other desktop computers; it is fast; has good graphics; plays KZbin videos beautifully. I've just got to get my head around the fact that this tiny thing works. It is mentioned in this video the fan is a little noisy and in my instance, I have not experienced this, mine is whisper quiet. I have plugged in a USB hub into one of the USB ports on the M6 which gives me 6 extra USB ports to work with. So far it has done everything I need to do; play music and create MP4 videos etc.I don't play games so that is not an issue for me so I cannot comment on its ability to play games. Someone asked about the temperature of the little unit and I run my computer several hours each day and the M6 runs very cool to the touch, I have not got a temp software installed so can't quote the actual temperature.

No dual channel RAM, which is a no no for a lower end Intel box, where performance will suffer because if it, which is a shame as the I/O and storage expansion options look good and comms are great. But like so many lower end Intel/X96 boxes, still way too expensive for what it is. And still no hardware AV1 video support from Intel, which is criminal in 2022 and soon to be the de facto video standard. Are you sure abut the ability to change the TDP? I use my "real" (big) desktop for editing video, but I'd imagine that something like NCH Video Pad would be "cake" for this. If your external HDD is fairly modern, this seems to be a fine "movie box". Normal video playback is nowhere near as demanding as gaming at the same resolution/frame rate.

It will be better if they add touch screen on that device so that the cable will be not so akward here.

Still too early to say about longevity. Most similar MiniPCs are quite durable.

@TechMishka2 жыл бұрын
Depends on the codec and compression. I have noticed moments when it is noisy. I guess for multimedia it is best to find something with passive cooling, like a Google TV stick.

I'd like to see this with an external GPU attached. That aside, if I'm wanting to get real work done, I'd rather have a machine that is NOT capable of playing games because I struggle with focus at times.

Hi All , few questions : 1 - How safe are all these little computer boxes ? 2 - When shipped with Windows installed : A - Is it a safe , Legit ,, updatable version ? B - Do you have to change ANY administrator , settings , or passwords ,,, to make it "Safer" ? 3 - Has anyone ever come across any spyware , malware or such , installed on any of these small pc's ? 4 - Any brand names more reliable than others ? Thanks for any help . Have had a ChromeBOX in the past , so interested in other small pc boxes . Also , just read ,, some people re - install Windows when first getting these . ( Guess to make it "safer" )
@TechMishka2 жыл бұрын
1. Safe in terms of what? Hardware is fine, Software - down to Microsoft. 2. Windows is fine. They use the same type of builds that are used with laptops. These are OEM versions with lower prices. 3. I did not discover any spyware. You always have the chance to install windows by yourself. 4. Beelink are a good vendor too. Morefine have also good reputation.

@@TechMishka .. Thanks for some info . When you say ,,, You always can install Windows yourself ,,,,, Is that RE - Installing it using a / the product key that came WITH the unit ? ,,,,, Or Do you have to wipe clean the unit , and install another purchased version of Windows ? . Thanks .

Thank God they release this days a smaller pc than a bioger useless pc. When it break's it's hard to fix because of lots of capacitor or parts.

Excellent video. :) I don't think I'd be a buyer at $300. I would rather get a used laptop off of eBay and spend less money on it, if I needed to run Windows. You could even hack a Chromebox to put Windows on it. I just don't see the value here.

Can you tell me if the Celeron CPU is able to play Netflix 4K video over the browser?
@TechMishka Жыл бұрын
Yes, it works alright. Often - if the CPU is overloaded, it is because it may not support the hardware codec that a service uses.

q1. How come device makers like this wouldn't make the usb-c port able to support pd [ power delivery ] as well so that you attached this to back of modern thunderbolt port enabled monitor and with single usb-c cable serve power to device, video output to display, and establish connection to usb hub built into monitor? q2. Can the vesa mount be used when the monitors stand that it ships with is already using up that space, e.g. as in the case of all dell + lenovo + lenovo monitors? q3. Will you be doing a comparison of this with the gmktec nucbox5 powered by same celeron n5105 apu?
@TechMishka2 жыл бұрын
Q1. Agreed... Q2. you may need to use extra planks or find another creative way to connet Q3. I will think about it! THanks for the suggestion.
