Actually windows 8 Build 9200 which was released in 2012 and windows 8.1 build 9600 which was released in 2013 Both have minor changes so finding difference between them is difficult

​@@Only_Computers_2007Minor and security - Start menu in Windows 8.1 was more clean + install regular desktop apps (x86-x64 only) was filtered to separate apps while metro apps was in Start Screen. Windows 8 was a mess for combining All Apps in 1 Start Screen - The security and driver, even newest laptop in 2013 and 2014, you need Windows 8.1 as main OS, if you Install regular Windows 8 the driver refuse to Install.
