Windows 95 and DOS games on a Wyse Vx0 thin client

Here I take a look a getting Windows 95 working on a thin client as well as DOS, all thanks to a Radeon 7000 graphics card add-on and recent developments in the retro gaming community getting Soundblaster emulation working on various AC97 audio chips.

Are you going to sell builds like this? I got your v90 build and it was well setup, I was impressed by the completeness of the build. Having an ati card like this looks pretty cool. BTW I ordered your sempron win98/xp machine, and I sent a note asking to include a stand for the v90 I previously ordered. Make more videos if it isn’t too much hassle.

Ah, now I know who you are. Yes, I shipped your stuff yesterday, Wyse vx0 stand included (check your messages, I did update you yesterday). And I do have this build listed if you go back to my store. As to making more videos, I have like 20 or 30 ideas in my head, it is just a time issue (that and my recording/production equipment is very minimalistic).

i think there is a newer improved version sbemu now available that has a bit more fixes and compatibility for this chipset. i have this thin client and OPL3 emulation sounds normal, while here the OPL sounds weirdly out of pitch and the digital sfx sound a bit distorted?

I used Windows' DOS, which for Windows 95 is DOS 7.1 - so DOS is already here once you install Windows. The trick is setting up a boot option for it. There are 3 files you need to modify - autoexec.bat, config.sys, and msdos.sys. I show 2 of the 3 files in this video so check out the screenshots at 15:49 and 16:19. The one I didn't show was msdos.sys which requires a single line change - bootGUI from 1 to 0. The 2 .sys files are read-only so you'll have to show hidden files and also change their attribute from read-only to actually modify them.

​@@graymouser7649 It was an optional add-on. Pretty rare, but I found a stash of units with them installed.
