Windows XP, unlike any other previous version of Windows has many annoying bugs and glitches. The updates that you download through Windows Updates should fix this. Windows Updates are there to both update Windows and also fix problems like anomalies that the user may find within the operating system. There is no more excuse with modern versions of Windows, since technology is now sophisticated enough to have everything working properly the way people expect it to work like.

There is another glitch for windows 9x sign in. If you click the help icon for the password, view files, then click the desktop folder it lets you into windows. These 2 glitches were major security flaws that i am very surprised that made it into the final versions

Here's another bug or an easter egg. Works in probably every version of Windows: 1. Open calculator 2. Type in 4 and square root that number and you'll get 2. 3. Click on the minus button and type in 2. 4. Press the equal button and you should get a weird string of numbers.

The square root of 4 is 2, then you minus that by 2 and you should get zero. But in Windows, you get "-1.068281969439142e-19"

Gigabyte_Forever okay, let me explain why that happens: First of all, a computer calculates using base 2. While you and me use numbers like "4" and "2", a computer uses "100" and "10" instead. This might be fine for whole numbers, but when it comes to floating point numbers, computers kinda mess up. I don't want to go into much detail here, but this is my explanation: The calculator calculates the square root of 2 as 1.9999999999999999998931718030560858. The calculator rounds up to 2. Now, when you subtract two, you are left with -1.05e-19. That is in fact -0.00000000000000000001068281969439142. For some reason, the calculator rounds up the first and doesn't round up the second. So that might be a bug, but it's actually some quite foreseeable behavior after all

When in Windows 3.1 you type in con/con in the run app, and the system locks up. The only thing you can do is press Ctrl+Alt+Del to get a BSOD saying: WARNING! and a bunch of stuff. After you press any key, you get another BSOD saying: SYSTEM IS BUSY! then you get a second BSOD (Black screen of death), Forcing you to restart your computer. Yes, it works in Virtual Machine too.
