What do you think all the folders, beside the original one, do?

why not just scan the ISO itself?
@adventuresinnostalgia9 ай бұрын
You're right, ideally, scanning the ISO file itself would be great. However, there are a couple of reasons why virus scanners might not be perfect with ISOs: Hidden threats: Compressed files like ISOs can be like zipped suitcases. An antivirus can examine the suitcase (the ISO) but might miss what's hidden inside (infected files). To properly scan, the antivirus would need to virtually "unpack" the ISO and examine each file individually. Performance: Unpacking and scanning every file within an ISO can be time-consuming and resource-intensive. Some antivirus programs might skip this by default for performance reasons. Here's what you can do to stay safe: Antivirus with archive scanning: Look for antivirus software with "archive scanning" or "on-access scan" features. These can unpack and scan ISOs on the fly for better protection. Scan after extraction: If your antivirus doesn't scan archives, consider extracting the ISO to a safe location (like a virtual machine) and then scanning the extracted files. By combining these approaches, you can ensure a more thorough disinfection process for your ISO file.

I wonder if the threats detected were actual threats or false positives...
@adventuresinnostalgia2 жыл бұрын
One was a very real and serious virus. The other was a false positive
