Windows XP Professional with SP3 - Installation in VMware

Built a "childhood PC" with this. I would've gone for Windows 98 SE so I could have my DOS stuff here, too, but XP is the oldest Windows that VMware has DX support for. Fortunately, XP SP3's compatibility with my Win 9X software is surprisingly good. I've only installed 5% of my childhood Windows stuff so far, but I'm already having lots of nostalgia and fun. I'll prolly get Inexperience Patcher in here, too, for a nice Win 2000 theme. Thanks!

This worked perfectly! I was surprised, I was expecting to get some sort of error but all worked as shown in your video. I used VM Workstation 16 instead of the current 17. I wanted to install an old program that wouldn't run anymore on modern operating systems but did on XP. Thanks!

Excellent video and instructions from beginning to end. Windows XP is now working on my Windows 10 machine. I do have a question regarding sound quality when Windows XP opens. Your sound is crystal clear but on my comptuer the sound is somewhat distorted. Future video suggestions is how to create shared folders in VMWare and also how to install progams to Windows XP. I have the same issue with sound. Cracking and distorted like it plays on 0.25 speed but I can't fix it.

Hey. I don't know why I have sound issue with WindowsXP running on VMWare, especcialy when Windows is starting or shutting down. In VirtualBox the problem doesn't exist.

Had nothing but issues with this. What you forgot to say was you can only install PRO if you have a license. if you dont you need the player which gives nothing but problems. Tried installing it 3 times exactly as shown and multiple dll errors, files missing from the install and many functions not accessible. All files were downloaded exactly from the sources listed as well. I think you should try everything including versions your suggesting rather than what your using. You show 16 yet VMWare is currently on 17.

I was able to setup windows xp and get it to launch, but Internet doesnt work. Google works, but other links dont. I also dont have the tool bar at the top that has VM on it. Is that something you have to pay for?
