It’s like the 777 is built for crosswind landing.
@loub7476 жыл бұрын
Yeah, looks pretty stable. I believe there's some fly by wire tech that keeps the wings pretty level without much cockpit input. Not 100% about that though. I fly the 747, and it doesn't have it, which makes it pretty awesome.

LouB747 it’s fascinating to look at the crosswind but the experience is different.

Brilliant video. Love that you included ATC. The 777 is an amazing aircraft. The 747 is legendary. Seems those are the prevailing conditions at Narita, aren't they?
@willweideman27136 жыл бұрын
I'm sure you have to have a good bit of exp. to land there, due to the crosswinds. Seeing your video landing from a year ago, shows how the pilots have to fight to maintain control. Very impressive.
@loub7476 жыл бұрын
Yeah, it can definitely be a challenging airport at times. That one a year ago was a handful and almost a go around....

Yeah, that was a handful that day. Almost went around a couple of times on that approach.

Yeah, I'll put up more when I get back there on a windy day. Or maybe I'll start videoing more landings from other airports on windy days. I do have some 767 and 787 ones to upload soon.

In Maui was wind shear and our United 777 forced it to go around
@loub7474 жыл бұрын
Yeah, gets windy between the volcanos.

LouB747 when I was coming and I was between Maui in the clouds I felt like the rudder is turning and it felt like stalling we all said WOAH! When we saw we were in the clouds so how do you know it was windy in Maui? Have u been there before? I live there
@loub7474 жыл бұрын
I’m an airline pilot. Flew into Maui a long time ago. The wind accelerates as it gets squeezed between to peaks, causing increased wind speed and possible shear. Beautiful place you live....

My theory is the engines on the 777 and 787's are so powerful i don't see many issues with them in heavy crosswinds. Which Narita is NOTORIOUS for having problems with. Plus, the 787 especially its wings was built so aerodynamically well i rarely see them having issues. Compared to the 767's and A330's which tend to struggle more do to their smaller engines.

Really nice channel, two of my hobbies together, aviation and snakes!! Just a question: The comms are in real in real time with the video? The ATC seems that it's giving a lot of wind information on short final, so as pilot, i think you should be focused in flying the aircraft, and it has to be difficult to process the ATC info in a really short final while flying the aircraft in strong crosswind and windshear.
@loub7476 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much. Yeah, the whole snake / flying is a strange mix, but it's what I like. The comms are real, but not in real time. That would make the video too long as the landing clearance it typically around 3 to 5 miles from touchdown.
