Windsor ON has an unenviable reputation for tearing down its built heritage. This video by local historians at Walkerville Publishing reveals sites where many of Windsor's famous bars once stood. Also included are some of Windsor's lost bars and a few that remain- don't cry in your beer!

Being from Detroit back in the day, a trip to Windsor was pretty common. We went to the Riverfront Follies and then Tunnel Bar B Que for ribs.

Great video! It saddens me how much history Windsor has destroyed. Architecture in the early 1900s was beautiful in Windsor. Architecture today is plain and blah..

Good on you for this collection. Remember drinking beer during University days at the DH as we called it. Plus was there when The Elmwood casino turned into a halfway house called Brentwood run by feisty Father Charbonneau who saved a few souls in his day.

I worked at the Lido as a busboy just as they shutdown. Partied there a few times when it reopened as Rum Runners. All that's left is a plot of dirt and overgrown parking lot.

Howard Avenue in Windsor Ontario . It's called " Tommy's " barbecue . This is the grandson of the original founders of Tunnel Barbecue .He is also old now , lol . but great food

I was quite surprised that I didn't see the Southwood Hotel. It was one of the oldest bars in the city. Just closed down in 2018.

Great video. Nice to see the old photos. The singer at the beginning sounds unusually old, though. The video would feel more immersive with a more average aged singer that would be common at one of the places in the photos. It sounds like this singer is 80 years old as if he's singing in modern times about something he remembers from 50 years ago which makes me feel like it is still 2021.
