I took some time to film, whilst in Moulay, some tuning movies to help you all set up your kit so that you are more able to get the absolute best out if it. This movie reflects upon the suggestions of where to place your footstraps and how important the correct size is. I then go into some tips for your mast foot positioning.
These clips also appear on my jemhall.com website
Therefore please take the time to experiment on this and move your windsurfing forward.
Enjoy and thanks for watching ...

Cracking video Jem. I'm new to windsurfing but that's obviously a very modern board. What are the dimensions and volume please? I have a background in sailing and yacht design, John

most boards are under 240 long now and around 230 mainly .. varying from 60cm wide like this wave board to 75 cm wide for an all-round freemove board .. get into it :)

Are you sure. Right in. While you got that tape out maybe you might get a crutch measurement.

This is very out of date now. With modern waveboard shapes, especially stubbies, the measurements have all changed. Ditch the tape measure.

Maybe not ditch the tape measure, but yeah sizes have changed a lot in just the last 5 years. They might change back again in 5 or 10 years.

Argument against big footstraps: they can cause a very serious foot injury called a Lisfranc Injury.

if our straps are not big enough we cannot carve or jump .. tough one. Best we find the right size for us and also bigger straps are easier to slip your feet out of mid air or whilst getting worked :)

I disagree, quite the opposite is true: if your footstraps are too tight you might risk getting caught in the footstraps going high and that can result in serious carnage. Pro wave windsurfers (and I) like the footstraps high and narrow to 1) be able to twist out and get of them in any situation 2) avoid bone formation on the dorsum of the foot.
