This should have a lot more views. Even though i knew this trick already, i never saw a video about it. You also explained it really well.

Tom thank you very much for this hint! Great video. I had the opportunity to try pushing the toes downward in my jumps and it really made the difference! Hope to see you soon in next year's Windsurf Clinics. Your teaching efforts this spring in Lanzarote gave a big push in my surfing skills. Never thought it could be so easy 😀Rob.

Hi Tom - great video. thank you for sharing. Could you explain a bit more how to behave with a wider board (more of a freeride/slalom)? and to be honest quite often when jumping in a full speed (around 40 km/h + ) it's mega hard to control the board NOT to dive nose first (and overpower in the air). In theory, it should not be more complex since you pull up the upwind rail... but this makes jumping for me super scarry. On Wave/freestyle boards - it's quite chilly since you have different "pulling force in knees". Any suggestions or exercises - would be highly welcome.

Hello Maciej, thank you for your comment. I will probably make a video about bigger/wider board techniques as well. Try to jump slightly more upwind, the wind will help to push the boards nose up a little more and work your arms, pulling elbows low and towards your body. with your mastarm coming close to the body, the sail will be leaning bit more back and the sail opens slightly. This will give you more control and avoid nose dives. Hope this could help already...

Good tips, will work with them on next wavy session. Love your video's, just not the music in the background. You have good content, IMO the music is just a distraction.

Hello, I learned to jump in starboard tack, but when it comes to port tack, I just can't. Unfortunately, where I sail most of the time now, it's mostly port tack. Recently I went for a jump and I almost killed myself. I landed hard sideway flat in the water, getting a really bad headache. I was wearing a helmet by the way. I feel very stiff in port tack. Any tips? Thanks

when you unhook on wave jumping?

Hola, if you are just about to start your first jumps in proper waves, I would recommend to unhook just approaching the wave. Too late and it will become a little to hectic, as you are already in full preparation for the jump, and might forget to unhook. Too early and you might loose speed, control and energy. Unhook, bend your knees to "load" your jump, body centered and off you go. on smaller waves that might be like 10 meters before hitting the wave, bigger waves maybe 20 meters. Once you got used to jump / fly, you don´t have too unhook. it is always the safer option and gives you more room to move gear, arms, legs. Hope that could help. All the best, Tom

easy way to learn is to just press down your back foot when you want air.
