I love this raw footage, you can realize how hard it is to get out, come back, ma,age the current and all.

If you're not well versed in doing a quick tack, and I'1m not, to keep coming back and forth waiting for a pause between the sets, it's simply not possible to do it in such high surf. These guys know all the tricks, they keep barely floating their small boards in the light offshore wind until they speed out. They're on another level!
@Bended-Planks3 ай бұрын
@@nefelibatics just like you said, it's not easy to wait for the right moment. In any case, the average board volume was 83 - 88 liters

Awesome. 4 Years there as a surfer, We watched these guys after the wind came up, and replaced 'em, at 430pm +/- after work, when the wind died daily in Winter.

Well...., this video is perhaps even more incredible than the one of the 14th. Conditions are wonderful, but also really challenging. Hookipa calls for illustrious victims. Bernd as always excels above all. Thanks so much for sharing, and letting us dream. Bye from Italy!!

Hello from France. Thanks for the video that takes us on a journey. Can you film the technique used by some windfsurfers to get through the waves? for instance typically extend the film session after 9:40 thanks
@Bended-Planks3 ай бұрын
The thing is, in Hookipa, when the waves are big, you don't have much of a chance if you try to go straight through the waves. You have to go straight from the starting point past the rocks into the channel at the left hand side. The problem is that there isn't much wind and you risk ending up right in the rocks, what is'nt funny. I try to put a video together soon. Thankx

Did the North Sails at 6:40 survived? Any hole or tearing? I see something like a broken batten, but cannot verify clearly...that's a really good test bench for the toughness of the north's fabric

The sail did not tear, Northsails uses great material, the same as in the America's Cup

I don't know if windugu is accurate at hookipa, but the forecast for the comp is really bad, no wind no wave, when the previous week was full on of course.

I think they wait till Thursday, It doesn't look bad with 4-5 feet and wind up to 18 kts
