I couldnt agree more with you except for learning to dodge it may be useful but relying on it may end a fight for you if you to weave into a fist. That is why its better to use ving tsun concepts of deflection and interception at the close range it is meant for and boxing techniques at a mid range with weaving ONLY at a mid range.

He can! But would he do it w/ the maximum efficiency? Or a better question is, would he be able to keep a level head if he's in a situation he's unfamiliar with rather than just a face to face confrontation? Physical conditioning and the so called "ground game" will only get you so far, but in the end, it's really about being able to survive rather than being able to beat up the other guy face to face.

SiGung Wong Shun Leung was the best fighter in the Wing Chun Style. Never beaten, the SiHing of Bruce Lee, the one Bruce could never beat. Sifu to the great Wan Kam Leung and many others. Who are you to even question this mans knowledge, he had more real fights than all of you put together! Bruce Lee respected SiGung Wong above all others. Listen, Learn, Absorb, Understand. But most of all, RESPECT!

you know what I went through, having respect that you have done multiple martial arts, I did Muay Thai, Jiu Jutsu, Tae Kwon Do, Ninjutsu and some Jeet Kune Do. But at the end of the day I found Wing chun worked best for me, i think its just whatever works, for you but no need to throw insults.

Who says an mma guy will follow ring rules in the street lol? He can do the same things as the wing chun guy. He can poke eyes, kick to the groin, hit the throat etc. And because they often have better conditioning and a ground game, they would probably win. And I am a wing chun practitioner who has done mma, boxing, etc.

The MMA guy is probably more suited for a real fight than the wing chun guy, because he has been pressure tested in the cage. They have rules yes, but they still go full force and try to knock each other out. Almost no wing chun practitioners do this, which is why when hard shots start raining down on them, they will freak out because they are not used to it.

you honestly think a wing chun fighter can't do much against a MMA fighter, lets say fair fight situation both has same years of training and they were in a street situation, do you honestly think you can jiu jutsu your way and even bust out a double leg take down on a a wing chun fighter? do you honestly think that wing chun moves arn't desinged to maim or kill? those are the very things your not allowed to do in MMA

Please upload more! Your taste of wing chun is spot on! My respect goes to Wong Shun Leung, Tsui Sheung Tin, Wan Kam Leung, Ng Chun Hong, etc. When it comes to Wing Chun, stance and body structure, positioning, elbow energy, force issue, etc is paramount instead of those fast and fancy movement/technques that most wing chunist promotes, looks good but no deep understanding of wing chun!

@cygroltd actually this was documented by the press in hong kong and it was a public fight. No dreaming involved. A lot of boxers have been taken down by VIng Tsun people. And I agree most Wing Chun does suck but not WSL Ving Tsun. Do your research and find out who Wong Shun Leung was and what his reputation is like in Hong Kong even today in the Marrtial Arts world not only in the Wing Chun world.

you keep bringing up what bruce said about training intensively in "boxing" AND "wrestling", a combination that can take down most martial artist. though i wonder what the outcome would be if you put that man up against a practitioner of wing chun and say the drunken fist. cause you know, having to learn both boxing AND wrestling in order to win a martial artist of their own "form" just isn't fair. put the boxer/wrestler up against a wing chun/drunken fist martial artist. now we're talking
@HomasterX
@HomasterX 15 жыл бұрын
woa hold on, you said it didn't work in several encounters and your sifu was good, did you mean that you tried to take on your sifu using wing chun or did you mean that you "used" wing chun and failed on a number of occasions, because you know that theres no such thing as the best martial art or what is style is superior, if you keep saying Zen this Zen that then you wouldn't be throwing insults over the internet would you. obviously not too much zen about you.
@HomasterX
@HomasterX 15 жыл бұрын
PS: I don't have pride, and i'm not asian but I do know that the ultimate Zen is humility, your such a awesome "real" fighter that you will advertise yourself like so. if your good, you'd never say your good. your so full of it, you think i'm easy pickings for a real fighter like you. honestly the best fighter is the one not getting himself in a fight in the first place.

replying to vincent 4500, .... i disagree with the statement "even the best wing chun guys don't last too long in MMA fights" your talking out of your arse, didn't wong sheung leung point out boxing being treated almost as a game? MMA is a widely publicised combat sport. wing chun don't have restrictions when it comes to fighting

A lot of what Bruce thought came from WSL, so I wouldn't call him "pre-bruce". He kinda made Bruce what he was... WSL is very scientific and he challenged "mystical" kung fu masters himself. So I think you need to know that before you say he is like a person who "believed God created the world"

Wong was set to fight a Giant Russian boxer named Giko who weighed approx 18-19 stone and towered over Wong by over 12 inches (Wong weighed in at around 9&1/2 stone and 5foot 6inches). The outcome was Wong defeating the Giant with just three punches!" After the match a anonymous reporter asked Wong if he was the "best fighter in the world", and he simply replied, "No ... I am the second best." Then, the anonymous reporter asked, "Then who is?" Wong replied, "I have not met him yet.

No dude (coming from a guy w/ street experience, though I do Karate, not Wing Chun). On the streets, it's instinct. A guy may not come at you from the front, but from the side - many people don't understand that it's NOT a 'fight' on the streets. The first hit may be the last so it's not a blow-trading fest like in MMA. I had a friend who's a Taekwondo guy - great ring MA - did a LOT of sparring, but he said he just didn't know what to do when someone came at him until he picked up Wing Chun.

It still doesn't matter. No way you or anyone else is going to KO someone with a single 6 inch strike from an already outstretched arm. Its wishful thinking. If you believe you can really KO someone with that crap you should really get out more, or fight tougher dudes. Anyway I bore of this pointless conversation. Good luck.

Master WSL exudes the confident, non cocky wisdom of an experienced and very successful martial artist who mastered the theory and techniques of Wing Chun. He also clearly has confidence in the system because he knew it worked for him many times in real fighting situations. I love watching anything on him - always the real deal Wing Chun instruction. Thanx for posting.
