Well done Sifu Vik. Glad I stumbled across this video. It's a very careful and accurate analysis of bong sau as I learned it many years ago (around 1980) from my sifu, Leung Ting. I like the way you described the "WT" bong sau (at 1:50) as "an interrupted attack". This is precisely the way we see it, and it aligns nicely with my other passion, Latosa Escrima. All the way back in the 80s my Escrima instructor, GM Rene Latosa similarly used to describe his defenses not as blocks, but as "interference strikes". His so-called "roof-block", for example, began as a forward strike, which if interrupted by his opponent's attack would flex under pressure into a defensive shape not unlike a bong-sau, deflecting the oncoming attack and continuing straight forward to strike, very much like a bong sau to fak sau sequence in WT.

VTSifuSteve thank you for your kind words and I’m very glad you enjoyed the video and found it useful. It’s very cool that you’ve also trained in Latosa Escrima as I feel they nicely complement each other :)
