Really liked your explanation that education requires order, but real life seldom happens in order. It's only when one can apply the education, that they've learned. Fantastic video as always. Keep up the good work.

Greetings! I studied under Sifu Gary Lam for 2 yrs in Monterey Park, CA (WSL lineage). I enjoyed the video alot for the many good points you made, Sifu Jason. I've moved to Alaska and miss those days of Wing Chun practice.

Love your videos, I've only been doing Wing Chun a couple of months and I'm fortunate enough to have my own dummy to practice on. Your videos explain so much that I don't see in other videos, keep up the great work 😁

I love the applied approach for all of your you tube lessons. I bought the wooden dummy book and the teachable course and found that what was in the book was different from the teachable course. Check it out, and let me know if you see the differences. Thanks again for all your great you tube and the teachable courses (my favorite is the footwork like clockwork).

5.11 t-shirt, spoke about sniping and about drawing 9mm. Come on sifu Jason, where's that gun video for us? Joking aside. Great video. Sifu Jaz must have drilled all those dummy sections a lot, because a soon as you said "Third section" she just snapped into movement. It was awesome.

I trained with students of the late Sifu Wong Shun Leung many years ago but changed styles due the multiple injuries. Long story. I also worked in the security industry for 20 years and found out that I cannot use the lethal elements because of moral and legal implications. So being aware is the first weapon.

There are SO many comments I could make about your videos Sifu Jason...all of them positive and full of gratitude. You are one of the very few Sifu’s that I believe are the future of Ving Tsun. You are the Morpheus of Ving Tsun... “I’m trying to free your mind!” Lol. You are freeing my mind (finally) and releasing the true beauty of this art elegantly, simply and brilliantly. Always humbled...🙏🏽

Great training as always, just want to let you know it works. I was working out with buddies defending against a stick attack (actually a golf club tube) and did a side step and used a jum sao to put both of my palms under his jaw. He said, what was that? I said the martial art you make fun of once in a while.

As my sifu said that after learning the Bart Cham Dao application it makes the rest of system more applicable.

This does not make sense

The angles of an edged weapon attack (God forbid) teach exactly how far to angle yourself when in contact or when bridging the gap. The perfect degree to turn a bong sau would translate to the positioning of the D gaurd on the buttery sword. If you notice the step foward thrust with the blade then the blade turns spine out flat blade like a punch to tan sau. Basically the third form gives you tools to recover from mistakes or difficult situations and also the bart cham dao helps highlight the need to use your safety positioning 'hiding behind your fists, elbows or framing etc' angles and structural strength not brute force. Most wing chun I see is now useless (unless it was a totally hidden style) or a very exceptional practitioner or used in it's proper context i.e. instant surprise attack, the 'Oh crap' reflex...no time thing just react. There are much superior styles for outright deliberate attacking combat like muay thai, kyokushin, kick boxing/boxing and so forth. I suggest trying as many as possible for fun and not trust any one in particular. Wing Chun's bart cham dao is lethal... (when would we ever need that now days) the style 100% increases sensitivity like no other style. Now everyone is training and conditioning hard it takes a different approach to deal with modern combat not to mention jiu-jitsu and wrestling element. If you have to average street brawler verses a knowledgeable conditioned wing chun guy then perhaps wing chun will help. If you have the average brawler used to hitting people and getting hit and an average wing chun guy then the wing chun guy will be in trouble. The so called 'wing chun masters' who have gone up against mma fighters all lose. What does that tell us? If it was an old fashioned dual or battle field weapons situation then it would have helped back then. Everything has changed. Weapons, wing chun yes. Anything goes last ditch helps a bit.
@jedi77palmer4 жыл бұрын
@@murath5550 I actually fight full contact against other people with my Bart Cham Dao and it is no more lethal than any other style of weapon that is well trained. I spar against practitioners that are trained in German sword techniques and other sabre styles and tomahawks also. Until you are fighting in a realistic manner with the Bart Cham Dao you will not understand how techniques are applied in a life or death situation i.e. striking your opponent without being struck yourself. This is very different to fighting without weapons and to confuse the two is going to get you in trouble in either situation.
@murath55504 жыл бұрын
@@jedi77palmer I wouldn't argue with that. The sabre is a formidable weapon indeed. range, curved reach and a hand guard. The concealed butterfly swords are serious in the right hands. Which lineage did you train under?
