@djargus You're confused my friend, so I'll clear it up for you. Captain Jason Sansky is a traitor in the novelization version adaptation of the film, but he became remorseful of his actions. Here in the 1999 "Wing Commander" movie however, it's very different, as he never did betray our heroes (It's called Adaptational Heroism).

@@jamieolberding7731 Yes, that's why they are called *deleted scenes*. They are not shown in the story for the finished movie, but are instead shown as a "Director's Cut", extras on a DVD or Blu Ray, or just someone finding an archive tape and posting the deleted scene(s) online!

Copywrite issues, I think. The movie was produced by the Robert brother's (the creators of Wing Commander). But by this point, they sold most of those rights to Origin and had split from them. Wing Commander 4 was their last WC game with Origin, who made Wing Commander Prophecy around the time this movie came out. But the Robert brothers did another split off space sim game (I don't remember the name) that had cutscenea from the movie.

I actually loved the look of this movie. Exposed pipes, low overheads, more like a submarine than a surface vessel. There were issues, like things "falling" in space (the fighters dropping off the bow when they launch, the wreckage falling off the deck when they are clearing the crash away...things like that. But overall the look and feel was good. Fun movie despite its flaws.

lost me at the planes dipping after exiting the launch run way... as if there is gravity in space, and aerodynamics to bump them back up? and why exactly would fighters shake like that? what are they buffeting against? and torpedos that fall into space like water? movie looks like it was made just after a WWII battle scene and they forgot to hit the space physics switch when the new film crew came in. its WWII carrier combat... but in space... almost half expected to see the pilot eject without a suit into space... with a parachute. and "pull up"? pull up from what? heh.

have you any understanding of physics? The torpedo scene makes totally sense, those torpedoes are pushed out by... compressed gas whatever out of the tubes and then start getting speed when their engines kick in. Of course does a fighter shake up like that, when it has some big ass cannon that uses primer and gunpowder to shoot that gun. they don't use lasers in the movie (do in the games tho). And why should a spacecraft not dip after the runway? i mean they don't need a runway at all, but they wanted one in the movie, since it's in the books. to have them slide over the runway just some rcs thruseters firing down, and disengaging and engaging some other thrusters to bump back up. you are not very smart for pointing out these things and not coming up with an explanation for yourself. also, noone cares if they 'lost you' this movie is 25 years old - older than you probly by 2 decades

I still cannot believe Chris was involved with this and we got that lame duck of a fighter. IMO WC would make a nice streaming series. Hey Netflix make it happen!

The sad part about this show is that its VERY sincere for its time .. just that STAR WARS set all possible bars of production SO HIGH that watching alternatives (like this one) just feels a little "low".

I love how the captain was basically just a passenger on his own ship. His XO was the one fighting the ship and barking orders lol smh

Movie has some bad acting but in whole the submarine feeling of the Carriers and the Space Combat itself was absolutely on point.

I really wish the studio would release a 25th Anniversary edition this year or early next to coincide with the release of Squadron 42, the next amazing space game from the genius of Chris Roberts.

Never undestood why the capital ships dont have point defense guns even if you have shields if see a missile or torpedo coming, dont rely on shields to tank it for you. Shields can always be countered.

0:04 ... Why are the space ships falling a little bit just before rising after they leave the edge of the deck? There is no gravity there at the end of the deck. I know the studio is just making it subconsciously familiar to audiences who have seen this happen on oceanic aircraft carriers in real life. But it does not have to happen here though, so it is just odd. Of course we can further make things up as to why it is happening here. It is science `fiction` after all. 12/08/24

In the movie there is a kind of artificial gravity because after the first few minutes it all goes downhill
