I found interesting how most artist talk about comissions like its something that you can start in like a week of posting and its very easy to get frustrated, it feels refreshing when someone actually tells about the effort it takes and even talks about going to convencions and stuff, thanks a lot.

Very Important question: Isn't doiing fanart like "pokemon" and selling for money on like comissions illegal? Because you get paid for s charakter thta is not yours? I love drawing fanart but Ive never dared sell fanart in comissions...because I dont know if its legal...like me making money of someone else charakter that I didnt come up with...so you said you do pokemon comissions tell me more what your tought is. Ive been wanting to knoe from. A proffesional for a long time.

I've looked into this a bit myself, and i'm not an expert on any official laws on the matter, but I'm fairly confident that no small artist is going to get in legal trouble for that (especially in a fandom as big as pokemon). Individual art commissions are generally far more expensive than official merch, and since they're only made for one person rather than being mass produced, they don't affect the people who own the characters by competing with their merch sales. As for making prints/copies of the fanart, there may be some cases where you're not allowed to sell those, but i know plenty of artists who make prints, plushies, and other types of art based on characters from popular fandoms, and the worst that could happen is that it gets removed from your shop (and I don't think that happens often, if at all). The real problem is people who mass-produce inexpensive, low-quality merch (with usually stolen art), not regular artists taking specialized commissions.

Typically companies seem to be more concerned about people mass-producing their IP. Check out this WikiHow article it's pretty good: www.wikihow.com/Sell-Fan-Art-Legally - Shield

it's usually safe to do even if it's copyright infringement because the price of a lawyer is way more expensive than the money they can get from the artist, and it's free advertising. If they send a cease and desist to an artist they're essentially discouraging their fans from interacting and promoting their brand. Dragonball and pokemon are partly extremely famous because of the fandom and what they've produced.

I'm actually planning to open up a Kofi account to sell my paintings and maybe do commissions. I've never done a commission online, tho, so I have a question: Have you ever had issues with someone not wanting to deal with your Terms of Service after they pay? What do you do then? I've had way too many scam "commissioners" in my Instagram page, and while I now know the red flags, I'm worried about this one in particular...

I've been running commissions on Ko-fi for a while AND have been dealing with spam "commissioners" on Instagram so I hope this helps: The Instagram "commissioners" (who are trying to scam you out of your money) won't carry over to Ko-fi. In my experience, the folks who commission you on Ko-fi are your fans, and want to support you. There are measures in place to keep scammers from trying to rip you off. Like, Ko-fi does require a customer to take a look at agreements the artist sets up on the commission listing before making a payment. Also, a lot of the scammers out there will try to use payment methods outside of PayPal and Stripe, which are the two payment processors Ko-fi uses

Can you help me, I need to know what I do to get my money back if I paid an artists from PayPal to do me a commission then he did half of my commission but then he stops from replying to me and not show me any update as I see him online?

You should contact your middle-man if someone is not following through on a contract. In this case, that would be PayPal.
