Standing in line, waiting to get tickets for "Star Trek: Teh Movie", a guy in line holding a large pewter model of a D7 would tell anyone who would listen, "This is a Klingon D-7. You are going to see it in the Movie!" LOL
@igncom14 жыл бұрын
I've always imagined that the Klingons prefer to keep the general style of their ships for a very long time, but massively upgrade and change the internals instead. With the first D7's being vastly different internally then Dominion War D7's. Their opponents might not notice the difference until they are blasted by modern torpedoes.
@venomgeekmedia98864 жыл бұрын
yeah so in the instance of the dominion war specifically they replace the torpedo launcher with a powerful lance phaser, allowing the Ktinga to operate as a long range support battery. this helped compensate for its older age. you can see it in action in the battle of Sector 72 Epsilon and of coarse Way of The Warrior
@carolheward64792 жыл бұрын
Thats right i agree because most klingon ships are just armor engines and weapons they dont waste space and resources on holodecks and soft beds. This is why they would be simple to upgrade and with new power systems it would allow simple old klingon ships to remain effective. Like when the 3 k vort class cruisers quickly damage the enterprise d in yesterdays enterprise. They dont even use cloaking to attack they just fly up and blast it losing only one ship. A full salvo of photon torpedoes probably ten only cause moderate damage to a k vort. K vort class cruisers look the same as a b rell class bird of prey but are bigger.

I could see this ship being refit and used as a long range attacker. I guess kind of like an artillery weapon. Hit a target from long range while more robust ships engage at closer ranges. If it is targeted it disengages, and activates it's cloak... Perhaps design a type of rapid fire torpedo firing system. Fires a dozen torpedoes from long range, cloak up, and continue attacks from different positions.

When i first saw klingon ships i assumed they meant for the bridge to be in the forward section but when i thought about it there was no reason for me to assume that because the thin neck section could be shot in two seperating the bridge from the main hull and the torpedo tube is in this forward section so it is a primary target next to the bridge which is not a good idea because enemy ships could blast the bridge and forward weapons array at the same time. I think the bridge should be in the main hull. I was suprised to see pictures of klingon ships that labelled the bridge as being in the forward section. I think it is just wrong and the klingons do have their bridge in the main hull or they were meant to.

Terrific video! It is incredible that this ship was still in the front lines of battle during the TNG/DS9 era, but the way I saw it the Empire would continually upgrade the old ships and make use of them as a patrol force - more than good enough to suppress rebellions or piracy. Their use in the invasion of Cardassia just shows that the Empire was forced to go almost all-in to gather fleets big enough to try to conquer the Union. I don’t recall seeing them again once the Dominion War started so I guess those ships were destroyed and any remaining ships were replaced and sent back to the core of the Empire.

Files in some blanks, at the battle of the binary stars thw klingon's were actually technologically superior but due to the fragmentation of the empire and mothballing of the imperial Fleet their iconic warships were absent as it was the clans private militias and fleets rather than the kilngon navy's ships and soilders. The clans had older and more unusual ships like the "whale ship" and "Ancestors/shrine ship" that we'd never seen before in ST because we'd only seen the Klingon navy ships previously. Vok's assassination also explains somethings, if he lived to contine making new ships for the empire and the kilngon's weren't so "if it ain't broke dont fix it", "just follow tradition" philosophy combined with politically instability ment slower military innovation in comparison to their competitors who whilst starting out with less technology progressed and a faster rate. We always here about how war like and how klingon's excelled in war and its true that in every war with the Federation they were winning until some miracle like a magical spore drive ship and soilders from a parallel reality intervene and save the day at the last minute but apart from that they still seemed to take on heavier casualties than one would expect from a race dedicated to Warfare. With the politics, closed mindedness to innovation and missed opportunities like killing Vok instead of him surviving as the greatest ship builder in Klingon history and empowering the Klingon military they basically dropped the ball.

@@venomgeekmedia9886 explaining how Enterprise dispatched the D7 on the way to Troyus so quickly once it's warp drive was repaired. Also in real ships there are three military qualities; speed, firepower and protection. Those qualities can be adjusted in any given hull size to produce differing classes, buoyancy being the limiting factor. I suppose the limiting factor in Starships would be energy. How the power can be distributed between shield emitters, phaser/disruptors, drive and cloak, would determine ship class. I love embracing my inner nerd!

I wonder if this author and many of you ever read the old "The Making of Star Trek" by Roddenberry & Stephen Whitfield, or "The World of Star Trek" by David Gerrold or DC's "The Mirror Universe Saga" because the ORIGINAL name of the Klingon homeworld was Kahz. It was Berman's lot that changed the name in '87/'88 and ripped off both ancient Chinese lore and that of the Japanese Samurai, for in both books was the true origin/culture of the Klingons expressed. Personally, I don't regard anything that had Rick Berman's stamp on it as canon to TOS, but another parallel universe, with it's own separate mirror. Ditto for STD. Berman {Enterprise}and STD were asking for it with all their crap episodes involving time travel. When its supposed to be very difficult, mathematically, as evidenced by the two episodes and one TOS movie, but I grow weary of arguing with TNGers as I call them, too much like butting my head against a cement block wall. sorry but i do not recognize the "Bad Reboot" era of Star Trek as cannon. in my opinion Star Trek ended with Enterprise.

Great video. My one criticism is showing the faux-Klingons from Kurtzman Trek which isn't real Trek.

they only fit in if you take into account the events that were in tos with the klingon virus they use time travel to fix it in the end this caused issues with those that came after it and during this time they also cut their hair before war and did not grow it again until after them also due to the virus the way they looked was forever changed they had no choice but to get over it and move on these are the klingons we see from next gen onwards

Well those don't look like Klingons to me and those ancient house ships don't look like Klingon ships they don't look like you know none of the Klingon ships from earlier times or later time and the Klingons don't even look like the Klingons why are they so dark how come you don't have their hair

God knows I NEVER WANT TO SEE IT. BUT IM GLAD HOMOSEXUALITY AMONG KLINGONS IS NEVER TALKED ABOUT. WOULDNT THAT SHIT BE COMICAL.?

Please don't mention the discovery Klingons you can just look at them and tell them that the same species as the Klingons we all know and love original series clean lines and then the next generation are Klingons so don't mention the discovery Klingons or show any footage of it please the JJ Klingons look more like real Klingons to me basically have tactical armor
