Hey, Nice clip and line. Is the risk factor high at exit? Any danger of your feet coming over ? Can you take us through the thought process.... besides get air in the suit ASAP
@SteveShipmanBASE Жыл бұрын
Yeah, there's a risk of going too head low and the feet swinging over, we call that a scorpion exit, it's a bad place to be in. The key is work up to it gradually, build good technique and muscle memory, first with a small wingsuit, from a forgiving exit with a big vertical start.

Wingsuit flying in and of itself is no more dangerous than regular parachuting and in some situations may even be safer. Proximity flying,however… It has been observed that up to 97% of wingsuit fatalities are BASE jumps. I’m only mentioning this because so many people don’t seem to realize that wingsuit flying is like skiing or snowboarding- there are many different levels and approaches to it.

Man, I'm so envious of all the people that can do this! I wish I could but I suffer terribly from vertigo. I wouldn't even be able to stand near the edge without feeling the effects. It sucks.....
@SteveShipmanBASE3 жыл бұрын
Vertigo is conquerable. I still get it sometimes. If I jump with someone else and I have to stand at the edge waiting for the other guy, my knees start shaking! I'm a lot better when I walk to the edge and just go. You can start with skydiving and build from there. 😄

He oughta take it a little easy. He may be the hottest bush pilot this side of Mos Eisley, but those little wingsuits are dangerous. Keep it up, one day...Whamo...he'll end up a dark spot on the downside of a canyon wall.

Why wear a helmet? Like what is the point?
@SteveShipmanBASE4 жыл бұрын
Contrary to popular belief it's actually quite rare that we fly into the ground at 120 mph, we steer pretty well. The most common accidents occur at low speed, landing our parachute close to hazards like trees, boulders, etc. That's why we wear a helmet.
@UK-Blue4 жыл бұрын
@@SteveShipmanBASE And you wouldn't want to hit a bird at 120mph without a helmet.
@UK-Blue4 жыл бұрын
I used to do Rope access work. We wore helmets. What's the point if your going to fall 300 feet onto concrete? ...... 🐕👍
@SteveShipmanBASE4 жыл бұрын
@Black n Tan Yep, same thing, the hat saves you from minor knocks that are likely to happen, it's not intended to save you from a total equipment failure, a common miss-understanding.
@blootarget27984 жыл бұрын
Furthermore the helmet and the visor attached to it makes it more confortable for him, since he does'nt have a wind hitting his face at 120mph.
