Dude, Wink Martindale is like a game show icon, just like Bill Cullen! I love both, as I grew up watching both either in new games or their mutual classic game shows! Thanks for putting this brilliant video together!

Wink was a deejay in the '50s and had a spoken-word Top 10 hit called "Deck Of Cards" before his lengthy game show career. How appropriate that so many of his shows involved gambling and cards!

Wink Martindale was my hero as a child -- ('til I was about 11 years old!) My favorite shows he did, were: Tic-Tac-Dough Headline Chasers, Bumper Stumpers, and, Debt.

Wink Martindale, was, is, and always will be a legend!!! Gambit, Tic Tac Dough and Debt was his best work IMO
On the "Mother-in-Laws" pilot, Sandy Baron had recently starred in NBC's sitcom, HEY, LANDLORD!, and eventually played Jerry's parents' neighbor, Jack Klompus, on SEINFELD.

It feels weird that Wink Martindale is famous for so many game shows, but I haven't seen any of them. Maybe I should start with Tic Tac Dough and Gambit.
@thescott75394 жыл бұрын
Tic Tac Dough was his longest running show, but he was always working. Beyond that, if you had to describe a protyotypical game show host, Wink hits all of the tropes. Tall, handsome, clear, confident voice, but with a slight radio DJ vibe, and his name is Wink. You couldn't create a more perfect host in a lab. The really great thing is that you never hear a bad word about him, and he truly loves his artform. So much so, that he's basically a historian of game shows, and has brought so many of them to to a new audience on KZbin.

There is an actual channel called Wink's Vault that Mr. Martindale runs. I think he would like to talk to this channel's owner about how to handle this and other videos like it.

@@newstarcadefan Correction -- Tic Tac Dough was only on CBS for 2 months. Interestingly enough, the syndicated version debuted only 2 1/2 weeks after the CBS run ended.

I know Wink wanted to pursue other projects but I think leaving Tic Tac Dough may have been a mistake.
@fredmckinney8933 Жыл бұрын
@@mitchellries256 I do, too. I think he shoulda stuck around. Had he done so, I think the show could have gone on for another year or two. But then again, there was also the shakeup behind the scenes with Barry & Enright Productions after Jack Barry's death in 1984, so who knows? Such a shame, as I always loved anything Jack Barry and Dan Enright produced.
