What I really like about this is it has the crowd reaction but no commentary. JP was OK but the rest were not to my taste. So, great job on one of the most memorable goals in the history of World Cup competition and a worthy companion to Charlie Adam's 65 yarder v Chelsea.

After all been said and done, it's hard to overlook this goal as the best for the tournament, not just the technicality of it, but also the impact of it for the player, for the match, for the team, and for the Women football generally. That strike broke many records I believe and that's alone is worth mention as the best goal. I'm not, for once a fan of long ranged or individual goals, although I admit, I am too enjoying watching them. Sakaguchi's goal is more of the type of goal I love, the team's goal as people dubbed it, but honestly, it's hard to think any goal, at least in this competition can top this one. It gave the US the comfortable lead, a hat-trick for Llyod, first in the final for Women World Cup, and it took her before 16 minutes to do it. Also the longest range goal in the final I believed for both Men and Women. The goal itself is a rare occasion, happens at the rare occasion match,suck for the Japanese and their goal keeper, yeah, but brilliant is brilliant.

The US is known to serve long balls to Alex Morgan so she could run them down and score. Having the goal keeper forward puts her in position to get to those long passes before the offensive player does.
@in4mus859 жыл бұрын
Most keepers would have caught that with ease just saying
@Joe-re9vk9 жыл бұрын
Well he was too far out of the goal so that's why she took it. She knew where he was and was out of position. If he was in the goal, she wouldn't have taken it from that long.

I don't think the shot was that great tbh. Looked like a poor effort from the keeper to me. I imagine if the keeper wasn't that far out she wouldn't have shot at all.

This goes down as perhaps the greatest WC final goal by a player of any gender ever. Right up there with Maradonna's second goal against England after perhaps the most controversial goal ever haha.
@MrCheesyBaconBits9 жыл бұрын
Are you an American fan and have only followed football for a few months? Maradonas goal is infinitely better and makes Lloyds goal look like shit... one kick of the ball beating a shitty keeper is as good as running past 5 or 6 players from one of the best footballing sides in the world? Its a half decent goal but is and never will be anything near the goal of the century... don't be stupid man.
@MrCheesyBaconBits9 жыл бұрын
Grady McDonald I am not Argentinian and people don't need to be from Argentina to realize how good that goal was... Not sure how you can guarantee you have played more than me considering you don't know me at all and not saying the goal she scored wasn't easy, even to hit the target from that range is awesome but it is still nothing compared to many other great goals ir Goal of the Century.
