Winnicott and the Development of the BEING (Lecture at The University of Essex)

A lecture delivered by Prof. Dr. Leopoldo Fulgencio (University of São Paulo, Brazil) at the University of Essex (UK) in January 2024, dedicated to analysing the Theory of Emotional Development from the perspective of Winnicott, termed the THEORY OF BEING DEVELOPMENT.
After considering the changes Winnicott's work brought to psychoanalysis, especially those in harmony or correspondence with the understanding that modern phenomenologists and existentialists have of human nature, it is affirmed that Winnicott's work shifted the epistemological place of psychoanalysis from a purported natural science to a hermeneutic science.
Furthermore, the types of object relations analysed by Winnicott (subjective, transitional, and objective) are described, linking them with types of experiences of being (AM-NESS, AM-WITH, I AM-DIFFERENT-FROM, I AM X [x is a predicate of I]).
Object relations thus described, associated with types of modes of being-in-the-world-with-oneself-and-with-others are relational dynamics revisited in the analytic process and in the management of transferential relations.
This perspective engages in dialogue with Ogden's proposals, wherein he differentiates an epistemological psychoanalysis from an ontological one.

Conferência dada pelo Prof. Dr.Leopoldo Fulgencio, na Universidade de Essex, em janeiro de 2024, dedicada a analisar a Teoria do Desenvolvimento Emocional, do ponto de vista de Winnicott, denominável de TEORIA DO DESENVOLVIMENTO DO SER.
Após analisar as mudanças que a obra de Winnicott produziu na psicanálise, especialmente as que têm sintonia ou correspondência com a compreensão que fenomenólogos e existencialistas modernos têm da natureza humana, afirma-se que a obra de Winnicott mudou o lugar epistemológico da psicanálise, de ser uma pretendida ciência natural para ser uma ciência hermenêutica.
Além disto, descreve-se os tipos de relação objetal analisados por Winnicott (subjetivo, transicional e objetivo), associando-as com os tipos de experiência de ser (SOU, SOU-COM, SOU-DIFERENTE-DE, EU sou X [x é um predicado do EU]).
Relações de objeto assim descritas, associadas com tipos de modos de ser-no-mundo-consigo-e-com-o-outro são dinâmicas relacionais retomadas no processo analítico e no manejo das relações transferenciais.
Esta perspectiva coloca-se em diálogo com as propostas de Ogden, na qual este diferencia uma psicanálise epistemológica de uma ontológica.
