Same here. It seems like Ryu just doesn’t have the range like some characters do. His only decent range poke check is his cr. mk but it’s so susceptible to drive impact making it not ideal to spam. Standing HP is good but I feel like it’s so slow. Frustrating but still fun to play though.

Great games. 8:45 Yes, you're +7 in that situation, but the opponent is pushed back a lot, so the only thing that will reach is standing LK. (meaty) LP hashogeki, st LK > LK donkey kick or LK/MK tatsu (meaty) LP hashogeki, st LK > drive rush > st LP, cr MP (...etc)

I'm guessing he was looking at opponent's health bar, as it had a clear flicker for a split second which probably triggered Punk's hit confirm reaction before it instantly snapped back to no damage. Otherwise I don't see how it's possible and the hit animation was really brief.

He’s low tier because he’s not meant to aggress, which in turn means you have to know the game and the matchups to bring out the broken main character effect 😂 otherwise Ryu is getting toasted because he is mid (like literally mid. Mid speed, mid fire ball, middle ground in every area of the game other than damage potential)

Yours isn't optimal either. St.hk does more damage than b.hp and cancel into shoryuken would do more damage than any donkey kick. Could have linked the st.mp into cr.mp too.

You so right Against the drive rush. They should buff his stand mid kick. It cover a decent distance but too slow to be on guard after hit & can't be followed. Meaning if people drive rush against that, They will dive impact & we can't react ... At semi-long range i will do stand mid punch if i can & at close distance i will spam low punch, that's all i can do with ryu ^^
