I’m new to the segment of cycling and picking up tips from you is fantastic. Nice ride. How did you happen upon the suspension ring issue? Just walking back possible causes and came upon it? Silly question I suppose - when do you know the tires are done and require a change?
@cheetah740
@cheetah740 7 ай бұрын
Thanks man and no worries at all. No silly questions. Suspension guy pressed on the bike after the race and instantly knew the issue. I think that comes from experience. Slicks usually have small wear holes on the tires. The more you use it, the small the holes get until they dissapear. Sort of like when tread on a treaded tire starts to dissapear over time.

Hey I don’t know if WERA regulations allow for velocity stacks but your bike has some reluctance to rev at around 8-11k RPM. You should consider getting stacks. I never knew that was a fixable issue till I bought them. I just assumed that’s a thing that all bikes do when they’re not in their ‘stride’. Night and day difference after the install. No tune changes. You might have them already and I’m talking out my ass lol Great video. I subscribed.

Great job, Brave to push it with such a vague front end feel. Pretty impressive how you adjusted your riding so quickly to compensate. How did that front tire look after? Seems like it would have been worn hard on the edges. Its really surprising that the lack of compression didn't affect the braking more , especially since you were braking harder than most guys. BUT if you dont' bottom and lose traction on braking i guess it would actually be an advantage because the forks would have been riding lower in the stroke increasing turning while braking. Now i am curious if you changed the setup on your bike to have a softer front end since you rode so well and won for the first time? Seems like you rode it well except the on throttle sections that caused your to run wide.
@cheetah740
@cheetah740 10 ай бұрын
Thanks man. Honestly it wasn't a terrible front end feel. It was probably a 8 out of 10 of where I should be normally. I wouldn't even know if it weren't for my lap times being off and running wide in some sections. That's what led me to go see my suspension guy. Very interesting point you made about potentially using a softer front end. I guess with not having compression and still not bottoming out, I can afford to go lighter on the springs. The kawi 636 seems to like a softer front end, so I'm actually moving in that direction.

Do you have this bike fitted with an autoblipper, or is that all technique? If so, any chance you could make a video on the technique? I have a 23 zx6r and have been trying to practice slipping the clutch into corners, as I can't seem to brake hard and smoothly while blipping the throttle manually. It was going great on the street until my first trackday, which was extremely wet and resulted in me losing the backend a couple times coming into corners. I went back to blipping, but wasn't able to brake efficiently on entry as I'm either braking or blipping, but not both at once... Othwerise, awesome video and voiceover, thanks!
@cheetah740
@cheetah740 Жыл бұрын
I have a backdated 09-12 zx6r clutch in there. It's adjustable and cheaper than buying an aftermarket slipper. Talk to Mike at KWS Motorsports if you are curious on it. Ask him what he did to Rohan's (me) bike. I don't blip it nor do I have a blipper. I just feather the clutch a little.
@christian2632
@christian2632 10 ай бұрын
@@cheetah740 Sorry for the late reply, thanks man! Still working on this, but I think part of my problem was that I was trying to feather the clutch too much and took too long, which let the rpms fall off more, making the wheel / engine speed mismatch even worse. I'm also looking to get an ecu flash from stock, and I would guess disabling deceleration fuel cutoff (which most flashes do for smoother on/off throttle) will also reduce the RPM falloff
