I usually prefer the muster tactic, and go for Kings Landing on turn 2. Got to get those boats out.

Ya, I think I should have included this as an alternative strategy.

I think for newer players, it would be ideal to also discuss house card strategies and the most effective way to use them. Stressing, for instance with Baratheon, that some decks (and cards) are very situational and/or bad and the ways a better player can mitigate that.

Ya, I really didn't want to split the house card conversation into a separate video because it's so critical. As I was planning out these videos however, the time lengths were getting too long for houses that have more options in their starting rounds.

At least on Medium difficulty, I like to move one ship to the narrow sea, and one ship to east summer sea, because Stark and Martell are typically just defending / supporting with their ships. Also in turn one, I will consolidate power * in Dragonstone, to get a new ship in shipbreaker bay, and either, a second ship to go for King's landing next turn, or a footman, to take some castles / strongholds (Crackclaw point, storms end, moat cailin, Starfall). Having your ships spread out this much gives a lot of range. Assuming you also have a ship in blackwater bay you can access 9 castles (White harbor, Moat cailin, The eyrie, Dragonstone, Crackclaw point, King's Landing, Storms end, Sunspear, Starfall).

Ya, in multiplayer I typically try to keep my head low so I don't go the way of Ned! Either one of those move individually would either cause a combat or really put that player in an iffy situation turn 1 i think.

I tend to do it in single player against bots. Or if I'm playing against someone who I know is not that good at the game. You can also just plan the march+0 in Shipbreaker Bay, and march reactively to what Stark and Martell plans to do with their ships

@@SuperBronzong I'm really glad to hear other people play that way. It seems like in every game I play, I naturally tend to be a reactionary player. In TI4 (Generally, the video I did is a bad example) everyone is like, why do you have so many command tokens. Well, it's because I want to wait until you're done and I can crush you without reciprocation of course! :D

I'm curious to see what other people do with Baratheon. I for sure see downfalls with this strategy starting out. ►You're missing a chance to safely muster in dragonstone. ►You're depending on the cards to muster or consolidate power.

My strategy with Baratheon is to: -Consolidate power in the Kingswood (Martell usually goes for SE and Tyrell goes for The Reach so it's a safe unreadable 2 Power and it helps if a Clash is drawn right away) -March 1 ship to Blackwater Bay. -Consolidate power Star at Dragonstone and Muster: 1 Ship and 1 Footman (Use the Star order while you can) Next turn: Take Kings Landing Or Take Crackclaw (I like this option better because I eventually move the Knight up to Mountain of the Moon for the supply and then eventually send a Siege tower up from Crackclaw to Mountain with a march order and take the Eyrie) This strategy helps with getting much needed supply and it's far less risky than trying for Blackwater (Tyrell and Lannister will not let you keep it)

Gotta grab those open settlements as soon as possible and fortify the sea. When you draw a muster card you'll gain enough power to invade Kings Landing, but if you don't control the narrow sea you're going to severely limit yourself in future rounds.

Hey I really like your strategies! I know it’s been over a year since you posted but could you do a video on your targaryen strategy? Interested to see how you play as them

Hey would you consider updating this video to include the mother of dragons expansion. If I'm not mistaken, it's no longer possible to take Kings Landing in R1 without the special order?
@valismasher

Hi. Do you, by any chance, know if that second march order (the one that moved the knight and then the infantry) is legal in the boardgame version of the game? What I mean is, this is the first time I see someone using one march command to move several units in different territories. I was under the impression that a MARCH order means ALL your units from that zone have to go at the same place at the same time. Have I read the rules wrong?
@valismasher
@valismasher 3 жыл бұрын
nvm, I've read more into it. You can march units to different locations with only one march order, as long as there is no battle there. So your initial move was awsome and legal :D
@BeyondtheBoard
@BeyondtheBoard 3 жыл бұрын
@@valismasher Yep, it's really useful for sneaky moves. Like, move most into a neighboring support and initiate battle with 1 footman. That way if you lose and get swords played, you only lose 1 unit!

This game is broken for Baratheon players if there are less than 5 players >:(
@BeyondtheBoard

Very true, they get quick unrestricted access to all of Martell. At least in this adaptation Martell is controlled by a somewhat decent AI.

@stevenkwiatkowski6818 I do the same. It's the only way it works! Also, Starks need to act wise and get the erie soon ish or Bs win anyway.
