Letting your opponent embarrass themselves. The sentiment will stick, the content... He is a smart man capable of farm more than what it appears he does. From one side at least, and that isn't coming from the racist Maori party, who will never accept that all New Zealanders should be treated equally and be grateful for the fair society they live in. These political agitators will do nothing meaningful for ''their'' people that doesn't come at the cost of causing racial division and hatred toward ''their'' people and society in general.

There are thousands like her, you can tell the worst educated ones by the size of their neck ornament, since moko’s have been degraded so much by their not being a right of passage to obtain. Anyone can get one, there are still legitimate ones, and they tell a story. But they will tell you all about it, the best filter for loudness is decorative things. The ones wanting to scream how relevant they are. And im also noticing these people say its for the people, when its clearly about their own personal gain, taking advantage of the people that are listening for those key words. The weak, if you will, the less than educated.

Identity politics is the root of all of this. Who you identify as, no matter if it's Maori or NZ European, is subjective. You are not objectively either of those things. You are just you. A human being. An individual. Even those are just words. It is the labelling and social constructs resolving around these labels that bring forth these problems in identity politics. We are all one. Viewing each other as separate based on skin colour or genetics is what is causing division, and thus these issues.

It is also good to know that there was a qualified Maori legal representative around the time the Treaty was formed , to give Maori a clear definition of what was signed. Interesting that this historical legal representative of Maori is not wanted in there current argument . Now we are finally starting to understand your position on this matter. The truth is finally coming out. They are not prepared to except there own historical legal representatives findings of the Treaty.

@@MatuaKiwi There is no source. However we can look at the Māori population in 1900 which had fallen to less than 50,000 and look at the number of people who identify as Māori today which is just under 1 million. Although the birth rate was high (about 6) for the next sixty years, it then fell to roughly just over 2 till the present day. If we say 120 years is four generations a rough estimate of population increase without intermarriage would be somewhere under 300,000. Logically then, to bring the population up to 1 million the numbers must be made up by intermarriage. Hence my opinion. I hasten to add that I respect anyone who identifies as Māori regardless of ancestry. But I believe we’re not as far apart as many believe.

...yeah I'm a Kiwi and have lived between Australia and New Zealand for decades. These things all work to a pattern and whilst this whole woke-style ideology gained a lot of momentum in many western countries around the planet very quickly, taking a lot of overly comfortable, very sleepy people by surprise, things are now predictably starting to change. This is mainly because this involves the majority of people, so when they start to become aware of what's happened and how it happened they are discovering that it can also change and change quite rapidly. Pandering to a mollycoddled minority will never work, sure, they get what they want for a while and get all the attention, but these people are not productive and they certainlt can't run a country like that. We haven't turned anything around, and we are still in danger of going down the shitter, so much damage has been done and ground lost some things will never be recovered. we need to just concentrate on internal politics and the running of the country for New Zealanders and not be controlled by those who want to control the World. New Zealand has talked itself into thinking that we are more important than we actually are and are just played on the international scene by the corrupt organizations out there! There are larger cities out there that are better run than this country, with the resources we have New Zealand could be a great little country for its people if we had a political party that genuinely had New Zealand's best interests to heart. Australia with its people and resources should also want for nothing if you could get rid of the corrupt politicians who are driving Australia into the deck and put the country and its people first.

And also speaks as someone who is actually normal and not just looking for opportunities based off of one race. If I was maori, Id be really wondering at this point if my partner was marrying me for opportunities or to "save me" or so many things, id honestly hate this, if this type of behaviour was being instilled and enabled by the govt who doesnt seem to understand that they communicate so badly and are creating morality policies onto my kids and put onto my spouse of another race on both sides of this. How can anyone feel "empowered" when they come together as a family when theyve all been told since theyre kids to feel sorry for someone of a specific race which is basically just enabling bullying for the people who have to feel bad for someone all the time so teaches a lot of people in oir society to not defend themselves which is dangerous as leaders in a nation, that a kid is told they are bad so they grow into demoralised partners which is bad for families when they break up, be told that their partner is pathetic and needs help which is bad because then they will never feel in control or will use this to abuse the partner through the guise of always needing help, so much of this goes against all my morals and Im descended of good colonials and have seen our democratic insitutions break down over the years and every single event of this has always started in this country. All these ideas of putting morality onto kids and people at such a young age is about as demented as having religions or moral beliefs of some peoples morality taught by strangers at schools, then the morality of the parents is overidden by a stranger at a school in which even the christian original teachings were actually changed and retaught in this weird pedophile santa type way and they wont stop it because it makes some sociopaths a lot of money. Now while everyone is distracted with that war, we now have more religious schools for people who arent poor and arent all the same and suffering just because they are the same religion and its a jewish school in remuera targetting the richest neighbourhoods families while getting 1 million dollars a year in public funding and also 2 muslim schools in which saudi arabia is loaded so muslims arent poor and getting 2 million a year public funding. No one else gets their own personal belief schools as everyone is different, so no on has been treated equally for a long time. Even in the early colonial days, kids left school at 12, it wasnt compulsory to respect parents choice, religion was kept separate to schools so that parents and families could teach it themselves in the way they want to and they simply taught kids to focus on communicating properly and how to feed and clothe themselves and they played amongst each other with good communicating and learnt how to defend their situations with words. Sorry if this was long its just getting really quite concerning seeing such tribal behaviour in this institution, theres a reason why so many people of so many races joined these societiws and it was to escape the tribal behaviours of their families in scotland, england, ireland etc and thats the same here. Communicating in such a polarising way is so bad for families and societies and kids and we could have so much more of our own money if people were actually less bad at communicating

How do you "study effects on Maori" objectively when being Maori is a case of identifying as Maori / subjective? When including someone's, who's 1/16 Maori's, needs in a study, do you claim that the 15 other ancestors have no impact on the situation? If you ignore 15 ancestors and claim 1 ancestor is more important, isn't that enough to make any "study's" findings irrelevant? The only objective way of assessing people's needs is to consider the individual and not who they identify as. Otherwise, your "results" only say something about their choice to identify as Maori and not anything about Maori.

One thing that baffles, the media always states the negative effects on Maori but to date I haven't seen them (i'm not saying they don't but I haven't seen them). Tell the reader why as an example Maori die 7 years sooner and suffer higher rates of diabetes and other life changing diseases, state them and then we can all see what is needed whether that be Govt intervention to allow better access to treatments etc or individuals to take ownership of their own situation.
