Winter 2012/2013 on Stampede Pass!

We had such an incredible time railfanning on BNSF's Stampede Subdivision during the winter of 2012/2013. This area is only accessible by snowmobile in the winter time as you can see from the video. Enjoy our footage from the many trips we took up there. For the time being, the line only runs eastbound trains and we were lucky enough to catch a few of them. Hope you all enjoy!

I love how you incorporated two types of tranportation. The end clips made me nervous about you getting back safely. It must be an amazing feeling to be able to get up there in the snow. Too bad you couldn't catch a snow plaw.

and what ever you do don't call Bnsf auburn Wa Yard they will not take your calls but if you see a Bnsf worker ask them chances are they will or wont know its hard to find out good Luck keep you posted!

Mike willard Hi it's Mike! My mom lives in Cle elum Wa! it's so Hard to know when the trains will come it's all times of the day all I know is I got Lucky a few times seeing Bnsf! But one thing is for shure if you go to Cle elum or easton Keep about yourself its not a good Idea to stand out in the Back of a Place where People work you will be asked to go so Just say Im out for a walk! and go about your day!

now if you go to Ellensburg and you see a train sitting there who knows when the crew will go it's at any time of the day or Night! get a scanner and Keep it on! if you see the Tracks Have no train on them chances are A you Miss it on its way in or B one is do in at any time! dont ask anyone in town they say O one went um a few min ago or I have no Idea they go about 8 times a day or less yep same in Cle elum! More soon!

Where did you trek in from on the snowmobiles, and how long did it take to get up there?

We loaded in from the Cyrstal Springs snopark, just off I-90 and rode in from there. Takes about a half hour to get to the tracks.
