DOA 5 LR is the ultimate game of DOA IMO...the only thing I don't like is the VF characters n the only thing they could do to make it better is add Tengu and Genra as playable characters like DOA Dimensions did. none the less it is truly a great and spectacular game now.

4 years late, but I think it's to stop from: 1) guessing the wakeup wrong and maybe leaving themselves vulnerable 2) forming a habit out of holding in wakeup situations, which is a potential flaw your opponent could employ when they get up and grab 3) tournament nerves Just some ideas for why this might be.

The strategy is to ether just like Matt pat say use any thing that distracts the opponent from not focusing the match or use the barriers from walls to knocking out of the stage to the next stage to get more damage

Black Koshinomi Honoka is a new character to DOA! look it up on the DOA website she is a schoolgirl who lives with her grandmother and has some sort of supernatural power (which is why she is such a good fighter) and her power has some strange link to Raidou though we don't know what that is yet.

judging by the fact they introduce new antagonists like Cyborg Raidou and Nyotengu as well as less well known new characters like Marie Rose and Honoka (and also judging by the ending of DOA 5's storyline) they obviously making a DOA 6. this seems like a clever way of keeping us entertained in the meantime. all it says about Marie Rose is that she works for Helena (i would guess maybe a servant or something) and it says Honoka has some connection to Raidou via her powers...otherwise their bios are quite brief.

@The#1 missinglink Honoka is the half-sister of Ayane, both of them have Raidou as a father but they have different mothers. Raidou raped both their mothers (probably) he certainly raped Ayane's mum, that was the whole backstory to DOA and why Ayane was looked down upon by her clan...because she was a "cursed child" and she was conceived in sin. it also is why she has unnatural purple hair and reddish eyes...because her father had dark powers. Kasumi n Hayate are brother and sister...ayane is their half sister (sharing the same mother) and Raidou is the evil outcast uncle of kasumi n hayate. he was the boss of the very first DOA game and we all thought he died but in DOA 5/6 they brought him back to reveal that he survived and that the evil corporation NEST gave him cybernetic parts. the entire philosophy of DOA games is built around the ninja characters and anyone linked to them...they are the strongest people...so companies want to extort their power. but i digress...anyone DOA and Ninja Gaiden is all one universe...this was stated a while back...that is how rachel and momiji got into the game. the only guests are the King of fighter and virtua fighter characters.

@The#1 missinglink well that isn't my problem, you should take that up with someone else. look the story has been leading up to this for a while; all i can say to support it is this; firstly ninjas or people linked to them (like honoka because she is blood related) always play a major role in the story. i mean christ every boss in DOA was a ninja...except Tengu. Raidou was boss in 1, Tengu in and kasumi clone in 2 (see DOA dimensions), Genra in 3, Alpha in 4 (who was just kasumi's clone updated to a stronger form) and in 5 it was alpha again. and in 6 it was Cyber Raidou. IMO it makes sense...the story came full circle, Raidou used the company to get the power he needed to have his revenge. if anything it smells an awful lot like Tekken n street fighter plot lines. so yeah ok it's not original...but nothing is nowadays. what dissapointed me more about DOA 6 is that in DOA 5 pretty much every character was free from day 1...but in DOA 6 some were missing (like Leon n Gen Fu) and several are DLC...which is bullshit. it's typical game mentality...they assume everyone has good internet for dlc...when the hypocrisy is their last game was 100% free character wise.
