Hi there! The winter camping season is winding down and Sandra and I headed out for an overnight trip at the stone hut. We were surprised by the amount of snow on the ground. The hard icy snow made for an interesting and fun trip. We cooked on an open fire and enjoyed a pretty fun stay. We really hope you enjoy the video and thank you for coming along.

That a sweet couple! I'm Max i'm from Russia, our politics alway told us that Western peoples are angry capitalists who stole our money. But i see happy peoples who look like me, enjoy nature like me, and even have same gear. Why we need tv, magazines and all this problems if we just can enjoy nature, enjoy our family and share it each other, without toxic propaganda

Max, many of us here in the USA, more than half or 3/4 or even more like the Russian people, it's the government's of the world that want us to hate the enemies they have made so we can protect the a..holes, they call this a moral duty lol, in truth it's the plain people who suffer. And especially the soldiers! Anyway. I like Russian Bear tents , they are awesome, also like the Sputnik stove , awesome. Harder to get now days, go figure lol . And the overland vehicles, bad ass trucks ! Well so long sorry for rambling on.

Hi guys a long time viewer and fan of your videos. I am a bushcrafter in the UK and a such we don't have to be concerned about heavy snowfall to the degree you do. I have asuggesdtion that may help cut sown on the workload when it comes to removing all the snowfall from your shelter. If you lay some boughs across the canvas then the snow will land on the boughs and when you come to clear the snow all you need to do is grab the boughs at the bottom and pull them away taking the snow with them. Just a thought...what do you think 🤔

I don't know where you are located but if you are in a location native to poisonous snakes, your tent base stone wall could be ideal habitat for them, timber rattlesnakes and copperheads. If it draws mice and voles, it could draw snakes.

Have always wondered if using tents in very cold and snowy environment mas wise.. Spent a week on the DMZ between North and South Korea in a "hard back" tent, but we had no snow during that time. Tent did have a liner and concrete floor with a heating system using diesel fuel in a stove feed by a 5 gal metal can that was attached to the stove. In fact I have spent MANY a cold snowy night in a tent in Korea. Of the 10 years I was in Korea during the winter time 3 years consisted of living in a brick house with NO insulation that had a boiler system that provided heat. All this time in Korea I NEVER felt warm no matter the living condition. However, the last tour in Korea I lived in a brand new 3 bedroom 2 bath house constructed on a slab of concrete with bottled LP gas that provided heat, hot water and ran the dryer. Leave in the morning for work, turn of heat and come home after work, turn heat and within no more than 10 the entire house was very warm. This was the FIRST time I ever felt warm in Korea. Have a question: Why do almost all winter campers do not stage firewood and kindling neatly stacked up inside their dwelling if there is sufficient room? Do you like to go out late at night and retrieve wood from "wherever in the cold? Sorry, i just can't wrap this around my head. This also applies to campers that wait until the last minute to start a fire from which they must go locate dead wood, saw it, split it and then haul in back to the campsite and of course it is very cold by then.

Hi, Kenny from NYC, loved the two of you , the guy was Jerry Lewis in the snow, I’m jealous of you ! It looked like a circus tent inside in a wonderful way. Hey you just leave the tent there with your stove??? Could not some crazy people just go in it. Sleep and when they decide to leave just take it all!! I guess I’ve lived here too long, we have a new mayor, he is black and loves to hang out with JZ and Beyoncé, I live now by the Barklays Centre . Jay Z. Started that. They have created a new city. I’m not kidding , I have always live in the village in Manhattan! I have now been here almost five years , but only ten minutes from Manhattan on the subway or train same thing. All my life I wanted to do this. Guess how far I got?? Front yard with my mom looking out the window all. Night! I grew up in the Ohio valley and inside the Ohio valley is the Egypt valley / haunted,,, look it up! I know all the places. Aliza Jane fox is part of this story / my grandmother gave me her Teddy Bear. Anyway , at age four I was on stage still am, that’s why you made my day! Thank You both. Peace 😊

Hi Glennene, it is a family property. Was left mostly untouched for over 60 years until we started spending time there. I can't tell you how happy my father was that the property was being enjoyed again. We really only use dead standing trees for the most part, so our impact on the forest is very minimal. We are quite conscious of our activities in the woods and want to make sure that we protect it as much as we can while still enjoying being part of it.

How do you avoid predators such as wolves in the winter and man eating bears (which i think hibernate in the winter?), then what about summer / how do you avoid them then?
@IamOutdoorsy
@IamOutdoorsy Жыл бұрын
Hi RSR. The bears do hibernate through winter. We do take safety precautions outside of winter. We don't have wolves in our area but wildlife for the most part tend to keep their distance from humans. We do have some fair sized coyotes and bears but we do hang our food. Most animals, even bears, tend to stay away from people. Always best to take precautions. We also keep bear spray with us just in case.
