Winter Camping In Deep Snow: Hot Tent Camping

I tasked myself with the challenge of camping in extremely cold temperatures to test out my new Up-2 mini Hot Tent. With temperatures dipping below -20C, I relied upon my Pomoly wood stove and my Sierra Designs Nitro 0 Zero Degree sleeping bag. My new Fanttik EVO 300 allowed me to power up some entertainment while keeping my batteries charged in these extreme temperatures.

Great video, Kenny. The tent and the "extras" seemed to work quite well. It's good to know these items are available. We learned to enjoy winters by snowshoeing northern Minnesota for a number of years...(once at 26° F below zero)...even having a close staredown with two wolves. I know as an older fella now I might not be able to handle an overnight camping adventure...so it's nice to experience it through your eyes. Ha! Liked your relaxing on the shore "wrap-up" scene. 👍👍 to let you know. Lighters are filled with butane. By product of propane. Butanes worthless under 32°. You’d have better luck if you go out and get a zippo lighter. You usually check your fire pack before you go out anyway so make sure that the zippo lighter has flint for the spark and fill up the lighter fluid. And it will always light and it’s windproof.

@@BaumOutdoors My Dad left me his old zippo that was given to him when he Enlisted in the Marines. Which has the Marine Siguna on it. I sent it to zippo. They buffed a lot of the scratches out of it from when he was in Vietnam but they couldn’t replace the outer case with the marine signuna on it. But the guts were all replaced free of charge. When I go hunting camping that’s the first thing I check then in my pocket.

I highly recommend getting a small fan or two, to attach at the top of the tent, to re-direct heat to the low section of the tent. It makes a big difference !

Even though the Bear tent is really expensive and heavy, it's by far the best tent ever. The setup you had with the table and light inside of it was awesome. And the area you picked was once again beautiful especially with the lake close by. It looks so peaceful and serene while you were fishing! The food you made looked delicious as well! Nothing wrong with luxury in the woods. If I ever get well enough I am taking my 6044 Bluetti generator and powering all kinds of goodies. I’ve done the head to the woods with just a knife. Got water from vines and food from plants. Made a shelter from a piece of plastic I found, fern leaves and a couple of logs. Now that I am old won’t be doing that anymore. That looks like a great meal the Lord provided. I had fresh sour dough bread with a pound of bacon, butter, sausage and home made mayonnaise. You just made a McDonald’s Mc griddle sandwich.

Love your winter hot tent video camping trips with car assist. Its nice to bring what ever ones heart desires isn't it? This video was over the top pure gold entertainment in the snow. The night time shots are so cool looking your camera set up is awesome!

I wouldn't want to watch a movie about a "creature in a black lagoon" while camping lakeside 😲 I once took a Cunard cruise where the only movie in the cabin, playing on a loop, was Titanic. I only realized it on the 3rd day when we were way out at sea. 😱 Thanks for taking us along, this was a fun adventure.
