Winter carp fishing at Ladywood Lakes

In this video we visit Ladywood lakes over in West Yorkshire for some winter carp fishing.
It was always going to be a tough session with temperatures plummeting to minus 1/2. The small lake at Ladywood is very deep with the centre going down to 30ft so we thought zigs would be a good shout.

Hi, I’m thinking of going in the spring, is it worth it? Also are you allowed 2 rods per person on the small lake or 3? As in if 2 are fishing the same peg, what method would you use?

Defo worth a visit mate it’s rammed with carp!! 3 rods currently allowed in the winter months with it being quiet. So in summer it’ll be back to 3 rods. In summer we’d go with boilie or pellet approach mate.

When using adjustable zigs you need to really feather the cast down and sort of lay the rig out if you’ve got any hope of it working correctly. Then let line off slowly till it comes to the surface then you can work your way down a foot or so every 15 mins to find the fish.

Fair mate, we don’t often fish zigs but our thinking was to feel the lead down and stick the bail arm straight on, then you know it’s on the bottom and work our way up to the desired depth 😊

@@FreshFishing that’s how I started doing it but when you let it up to the surface, then take it down and see the float go under first. Then the bait get pulled under you’re 100% sure it’s not tangled 👍👍 that’s the best way I’ve found anyway. Cause a lot of the time the bait will be dragged down with the float and you know somethings wrong and can fetch it in

I fished that peg not so long ago, I managed two from one rod length out on the bottom, it's steep as anything. Tried zigs with a cloudy mix in open water but nothing was happening

Good video lads and speedy recovery wayne! I was looking at them liquid zigs a few months back, they are bigger than i thought! Loving the bots 👌🏻. With that many fish showing on the deeper i would have been moving adjustable up and down every 15mins to see if i could tempt one. Keep them coming lads and hopefully sort a session next year 👌🏻

Best bet would be check on angling lines mate. You can select a distance etc and also type of venue. If you want runs you’ll be able to pick a highly stocked venue
