Wonderful plans, Sarah. Also, your knitting is very adventurism In terms of re-making the same pattern multiple times; the difference in fabrics, even slight changes in necklines, sleeves and hem lines, present a very different silhouette. I believe you have automatically gravitated to styles which suit you well. Although I try new things, I also have the tendency to use the same patterns over and over again once I have perfected the silhouette I am looking for and the difference in fabrics, etc. all give another "look". Have you thought of using your extra fabrics to make cardigans and different types of "vests" that you can wear with your skirts? Teamed with silk shirts / blouses can translate into a very chic profile. Will look forward to seeing what you have decided to make over the next few months. Enjoy. Cheers. Joan

Hello Joan, you're right, the same pattern can create such different looks in different fabrics and I'm glad to hear that I'm not the only one reusing the patterns whose fit I've perfected! Yes, I think I'll make a cardigan with the extra grey fabric, but I've never tried a vest before. I might try that on in a shop to try it out, I'm intrigued!

Thanks Sarah. Looks like a great season of sewing for you. I am inspired by your makes of the Heather dress. My goal for the winter is to perfect the fit for some button down shirts (Byrdie and Cameron) and to make a few of my knits into turtlenecks (Burda8881) and mock necks (Nikko). And then my adventurous make is a Trend Patterns Ruffle Shirt. So I need to get those makes underway before I can explore the Heather dress. Happy Sewing!

I haven't made it yet, but I'm very interested in making the Marlo Sweater, which is a cardigan pattern by True Bias. Maybe you've already tried it... but if not, it could be an option for your grey fabric. It might be a little tight on yardage, but if you used a contrast fabric for the binding you might get away with it. I'm excited to see your polka dot dress. I love a polka dot! 💙

Oh yes, I've had the True Bias Marlo sweater on my mind for years now and this might just be the right fabric for it! Thank you for the recommendation! 😊

Ok I bought the Carlie tee pattern! Wish me luck haha. Also new to German short rows. It is summer here in Australia, i'm sewing a bunch of Ballet-core knit basics for work. The Brasov top from Itch to Stitch is a fantastic pattern and would look great on you! It looks especially nice in drapey knits. Also the Tustin knit dress from the same designer, it has a really defined waist and the construction is so interesting. I'm excited to sew a bunch of those for work.

Good luck with the Carlie tee! German short rows are a bit tricky at first, but they create such lovely shaping in the back, they're worth learning! I've had the Brasov top on my list of patterns to try for years, it looks so lovely. Happy sewing and knitting!

Thank you for sharing your progress and plans with us! I absolutely love that you make the same items over and over again (as well as try new things); that's exactly what I want to do eventually. When I get better at both sewing and knitting. I have the Colette Patterns Crepe dress No 1013 to make, which is a beginner pattern wrap dress. I have a light black cotton fabric, so no pattern matching or anything tricky like that; I just hope it has enough drape. And for knitting I am still wanting to make the Winter Bluff sweater by Ashley Lillis; a very simple style. However I have two balls of acrylic yarn from Hobby Lobby that I want to use up before I buy 'nice' yarn - I am SO afraid to ruin more expensive materials and I have to get past that fear! I love your videos Sarah and always look forward to them, glad also that you are feeling better!

Thank you so much for your kind message! Good luck making the Colette wrap dress! It'll look so elegant in black and the overlapping waist tie looks really lovely. And thank you for mentioning the sweater pattern, I didn't know it! Happy knitting and sewing!

I’ve made the heather dress and really like it but I also had a lot of bunching in the back, I have a sway back, so will be interesting how you fix this problem! I also have cotton flannel I want to make into pjs so will look forward to how you like that pattern. Gorgeous knit!

Thank you for your comment and I'm glad to hear that I'm not alone in this Heather dress fit conundrum! I'm going to try and figure out a way to reduce the pooling (mine pools vertically rather than horizontally - weird) without adding a center back seam and I'll report back!

Have you ever tried Tessuti Fabrics? They also have beautiful patterns. Their new dress pattern is „Ophelia“. That looks like it would be perfect for you.

Your videos are very inspiring with your makes and plans! I like how you talk about that personal style and preferences change over the years. The skirt length is also one for me. I'm eying the Berlin skirt for a while, but never was sure because of the length. Seeing your shortened version now, makes me wonder if i should give it a try. It looks so elegant and with the slit very good for walking in the city. Happy Crafting! Oh and did you start on some embroidery? You talked about that in one of your last videos. I'm curious!
@Sarah_Naomi
@Sarah_Naomi 6 ай бұрын
Thank you for your comment! I've just finished making the Berlin skirt and while I'm happy with it, it took A LOT of work because I encountered a lot of fit problems and I suspect that it's due to poor pattern drafting. I'll talk about this in more detail in my winter makes video, but if you want to try making this pattern, I recommend making the seam allowances much bigger so you can adjust the fit more easily (*especially* for the lining pieces). And no, I haven't started embroidery yet, but I've been eyeing a Sashiko class that's taking place early April!

Thank you for your insights on the skirt. That is very helpful and I'm looking forward to watch your review! In the meantime i will wait and maybe draft a pattern myself. A Sashiko class sounds like fun! It is such a cool technique also for embellishment in the insight of garments.@@Sarah_Naomi
