Hello 👋 my outdoors friend, greetings from Northern California. I just came across your channel and thought I would check it out. Thank you for the tag along. It looks like you have all the necessary items readily available for day hike in winter. You are certainly well organized. All the best to you. Stay safe out there. 🤗 👋

Hi Christian… understand the challenges regarding videoing etc.. I am heading up to the Tremper fire tower. This is a great video, as I think I am carrying too much in my first aid kit. You mentioned you may do a video on that. That would be awesome if you’re filming in the future… Thanks hope you are well.

Even with out charging your batteries you seemed to bring out a great video.

Got lucky and the batteries lasted for a good while that day! Somehow I have still managed to repeat this mistake multiples times since haha.

Hi Christian. Nice videos. Wondering if I ran into you on Hunter Mtn by the fire tower a few weekends ago. I was doing the loop with my gf and asked you about the conditions heading down the Devils Path

Wasn’t me as I haven’t been up Hunter for a while now (or any of the high peaks for that matter), I need to head up to the fire tower this year! How are conditions at higher elevations right now? I’ve had a busy winter but starting to plan some trips in the next month or two.

Well, as of two weeks ago, slide mountain, and Hunter Mountain both had nice snow conditions, especially slide. Maybe a foot or two at the top -nicely packed snow. Microspikes all the way. Hopefully we get some more accumulation before Winter ends. Like you, I consider day hikes as training hikes and don’t worry about the pack being light per se. I also carry a tarp as well as a sleeping quilt on all my winter outings as a safety measure. Additionally, I’ve been also bringing an extra base layer top which I change into at the summit for a warmer and drier descent.

i carry almost the same gear for day hikes. only addition would be 3 days of my meds and 2 days worth of food.

Very nice and cold (looks cold), hike. How do you keep your Sawyer from freezing? Happy you have a tarp.. one of my favorite pieces of gear. No knife?

Ah, I knew someone would call me out on the sawyer! You are 100% correct that a sawyer is not good practice for a winter trip. In my defense I do have water treatment tablets in my survival/first aid kit as well. The sawyer should not be taken out on winter trips.

@@christiandenniston7177 No worries.. just wondered if you had a trick I didn't know about.

I have seen some videos where they keep their sawyer filter inside their jackets up against their chest areas to Keep them from freezing.

OK I have a question about your Fannypack. Does it get in the way of any of your other backpack straps? What type of film gear are you keeping in your pack?
@christiandenniston71773 жыл бұрын
Surprisingly it doesn't get in the way although initially I had similar concerns. The backpack hipbelt sits up high on my hips and the fanny pack strap rides lower down on my waist. Currently I keep my DJI osmo action camera along with the rhode videomicro mic in the fanny pack as well as a spare battery and small tripod. Alternatively, it will also fit my Canon M3 and the Rhode mic but I have to remove the mic from the camera mount in order for it to fit.
