WINTER | DOLOMITES 4K TIMELAPSE

The first video of my Dolomites timelapse series featuring the beautiful mountains of northern Italy changing over the seasons. Winter is a tough time for shooting in high alpine environments over longer periods. Both for equipment and people. Though it provides a wonderful quiet when all the people return to the valleys for the night and you are the only one left on the mountain.

+KZbin Schnitzel impossible question to answer. every shot is different. 180° rule is good to stick to. I even often use automatic exposure ramping to ramp from 10s to 1/2000th second for smooth transitions between day and night.

Interesting to see the planes criss crossing making chemtrails in timelapse at 1:42, especially the the plane flying right to left. It doesn't start spraying until it's over the population. And you can tell that not all of the planes are using chemtrails.

One of the things I struggle with on my A7 is getting timelapses that stay consistently exposed throughout sunset / dusk. Some people suggest using aperture priority but for mine it almost creates this flickering effect - ones underexposed a step, and the next one might be correctly exposed, or over exposed, etc... Do you edit each frame manually to match them up? Or is there an easier way to capture photos and make sure that it's a smooth transition straight out of the camera?

+hutchison15 The A7 cameras are the best. They mostly create very smooth results even without deflickering it in post. I deflicker with LRTimelapse and FlickerFree by DigitalAnarchy in Adobe After Effects.

+hutchison15 I always make timelapses in manual mode. It should be fine unless there is a large change such as sunrise during the scene. I've seen it done where people use manual, but change the settings every half hour for a sunrise, and adjust exposure in post to smooth out the change.

Just when the exposure changes drastically, I don't want to risk moving or bumping my camera, or missing some frames in the sequence with time spent fiddling with exposure settings.
