This Winter Field Day myself and fellow hams set up in Morgan Monroe State Forest (US-4215) at their training center. This is a pretty great facility! Joe (W9NVY) leads a school club (W9BNL) at his high school who joined us for this event. Much fun was had and all the kids were able to get some radio time in. The facility we were in is extremely nice but it wouldn't feel quite like field day to me if I didn't go into the field for at least a little while. So myself and Mike (KD9MYJ), who is also an avid hiker, set off for a nearby park within the greater park of Morgan Monroe State Forest. We did a quick setup and got on the air and immediately started making contacts. Operating POTA on field day has its advantages as there is no shortage of contacts. After activating the parks I turned the radio over to Mike who successfully made ahis 10th contact for US-4215. Mike has been a POTA hunter for a while at this point but it always feels good to get that first activation under your belt. Welcome to the POTA crew Mike! We then headed back to the facility and rejoined our friends. Thanks to everyone who worked us and thank you to my local Ham Fam:
