Greenhouse in Gloucestershire - cleaned out the tomatoes, loads of chutney. Now have a greenhouse still full of loads of chillies - more chilli jam and chillies in oil on the way. Enjoyed the video thanks

@@grahambolton3428 yep, hope all is good next year and you are struggling with what to do with a glut of chillies and tomatoes as I have been (best chilli jam recipe ever just made this afternoon - neighbours will probably run when they see me coming to give them yet more of my preserves!)

Hi Barry and Mrs W. I grow loads under cover during late Autumn/Winter/early Spring as you know. Another added benefit of growing undercover is that the leaf quality is better too, as they are kept clean from splashes of mud and toughening of laves due to harsh, cold winds and rain.My greenhouse is still pretty full at the moment- my tomatoes, peppers and cucumbers are still cropping, so I have planted my seedlings in washing up bowls with large holes drilled in the bottom. I have also planted seedlings in cold frames, (komatsuna, rocket, Mizuna, Claytonia and red mustard. Thank you for a great video. Happy growing 🙂

Thank you for your videos I topped up the compost and planted up some brassicas in my clean poly yesterday and sowed winter greens in there too. The onion sets autumn champion, Mrs W bought, arrived today so they will get planted tomorrow. Tried to ripen green tomatoes with a banana but the banana went black so I made a banana cake for the grandkids! No waste if I can help it. My spuds are under the potting bench in the poly and I emptied the gravel trays of all water I’ve got some lettuce to sow Red Salad bowl and some American land cress one of your followers recommended I have a few arctic king and black Simpson lettuce growing already so hopefully will get a follow on crop from the new sowings. Tomorrow I’m clearing all around the poly and putting the detritus in the composter - another busy morning planned

As you know I havnt been able to grow much but I have got some brassica plants and lettuce plants and spinach to plant. We got one bed of garlic done but got to get onion sets in and the other garlic bed and elephant garlic. So we are doing a bit still. Need to get our ton of compost delivered. We don’t make enough of our own even less this last year. But we still cracking on a bit wen I manage to get home. 👋🏻

Greetings from Ireland to Mr and Mrs W. Its a wonderful time for the garden. I like to think of it as the second spring. Lots to get in and look forward to.With the hungry gap veggies arriving with snowdrops, then daffs mixing in with the tulips. A question. Im looking to grow more beans for drying and eating. How do i do this most productively? Best wishes to you both.

Thank you for your warm greetings! It's wonderful to hear from fellow gardeners. For productive bean growing, I recommend planting them in rich soil and providing plenty of water. A structure for them to grow up and planting 2 seeds per cell for 2 plants per upright every 6" therefore doubling the harvest. You should be able to see what I mean by watching any of our videos of the bean arch!

Looks like you've got it planned out well! I popped in some Chinese mustard, Mizuna and extra pak choi under fleece a few weeks ago and they seem to be doing well so far. From what I've read we may be due another mild/wet winter due to El Niño. Interestingly the slugs seem to have vanished.

Thanks for watching! I'm glad you found the video helpful. Keeping potatoes in a dark place is definitely a good idea, so long as it is frost free they should store fine. However if you are growing like us they will require the maximum light they can get, so a conservatory or cool greenhouse or polly is best!

Lovely video and good tips for potatoes in pots. This is my first year growing new ones in pots for Christmas dinner. Do you think it's too late to sew lettuce now for a polytunnel? It's my first year having a proper garden, so I'm focused on beetroots, Asian greens, kale, fennel, and winter cabbage for the winter.

We've had spotty frost almost evey night this week but some how my basil survived. I did see some damage on the beans but I still have a few peppers and a couple eggplants in still. What do you grow you potted potatoes in? Is that straight compost? I mixed compost with peat and some spent potting mix from some of my spring potted plants that were done and added some granula fertilizer but they don't look nearly as good as yours and my harvest so far has been very dissappointing.

It sounds like you’re doing a great job with your basil and peppers despite the frost Frank! For my potted potatoes, I just use our home made compost, but I do water them regularly during the summer almost every other day. I wish I had a magic formula that worked for everyone, but it is just simply compost and water and no other fertilizer. I am sorry that you are disappointed with your harvest, but do keep trying, it has taken us some time to get to this stage. I shall have a potato how to soon and hopefully it will help, you are not the only one who has commented saying they are disappointed with their potato harvest despite adding supplements!

Greetings. Check out simply gardening. He got me onto an organic supplement. I think it was vitamix. My average yield went from about 4 And 1/2 lbs a tub to about 61/4. That said only my second year of tubs. Same seed potatoes on some very rough ground did really well with this supplement. Next point is kind of space dependant. Rather then 2 main crop in a 30 lt bucket 1 works well. I suggest this mainly due to watering requirements. Especially when they fattening up. A hot spell might really require daily watering. Next year I'm experimenting with different pot sizes and mediums. But I won't go on -even though I'd love to. Best wishes. Enjoy the bounty and be well.
