Winter Hike-along at Baxter's Hollow

Join me on a hike through the snow to explore the communities of lichens, moss, and ferns at Baxter's Hollow. There were even some insects starting to emerge. Spring will be here before we know it!

Maybe if you had a selfie stick you could record way up where no one can reach and get untouched moss and lichen. I have a video I recorded in an isolated (secret, shhh!) hilly area that shows what I call Moss Hedgehogs on the ground. They grow out from the center slowly and the center lifts off the ground with the edges still touching. So you can pick them up and they are like shallow cups. No reason to do that of course. I tried taking a tiny one home to put in a terrarium but it didn't survive. I think if they got big enough the wind would roll them somewhere else to spread them around.
