His Majesty's Tenth Regiment of Foot in America is a historically re-created infantry unit formed to portray the service of the British Army during the American War for Independence.
Composed of three types of soldier, Grenadiers-typically larger men who are used as shock troops, a company of Light infantry, generally smaller, more agile men--capable of maneuvering in the dense wilderness to skirmish or flank the enemy, and a battalion company--a company of regular soldiers, capable of mass volleys and were the heart of the army and are trained in both Grenadier and Light Infantry tactics. We also have a company of Music, who provide music and commands to the army. Last but certainly not least, a Corps of Civilian Volunteers--who provide food to the regiment during encampments and accurately portray civilian and camp life of the 18th century. Each is open for recruitment. The members of the Tenth are accurately uniformed, equipped, and trained in 18th-century military drill and life so that we appear in public as members of the British Army would have in 1775. I was watching your vids a couple weeks ago - they showed up on my timeline. I had no idea where you operate/are based, but this morning on a rare trip to Salem, my wife and I looked across towards the Maritime District, from Seven Gables, and lo and behold, there y’all were. I didn’t realize until tonight that I had seen y’all before. Y’all, the 22nd, and the Royal troops put on a fantastic demonstration at Salem today. I wish I could have been there for the whole thing. You are the most wholesome bunch of dudes, and I love what you’re doing. Keep kickin ass, and God save the King!

We hope this event could be a model for future events with rebel units as well! If things don’t work out with your group, we are always accepting new recruits, however!

@@mikeyb856 Hi Mikey, great question, and one that will be covered more in depth in a future video! The first step would be to join a regiment. This will get you access to the best events and training. We may be bias but we feel that our regiment is one of the best for newcomers to the hobby. In fact, many people in the regiment and the hobby in general from New England began the 10th when they entered reenacting. Here are a few ways we feel the 10th sets itself apart for newcomers!: 1. We have a regimental armory/stores: Most other regiments have recruits pay for a tailored uniform which not only costs a lot of money, but also can take months if not years to be completed. Since we have in-house used uniforms and tailors, your uniform can be fitted immeadiatly--getting you out on the field quickly. Our tailors can make the necessary minor adjustments to make sure it fits properly. These used uniforms are cheaper and you can wear them until you are confident you want to stay with the hobby, then you can pay for a new, fully tailored uniform! WIth uniforms, muskets, other accoutrements, tailors and gunsmiths in-house, it makes the entry process extremely smooth! 2. Training: The 10th is one of the only regiments which meets monthly, year-round for training. You would have access to free private sessions as well as joint drills with your company NCO, something which is critical for someone who is new to the hobby! 3. Choose your path: We have three musket companies and a music company, each with a different role. You can choose which one most interests you! 4. Large membership: Our membership is over 80 strong with membership across New England, which makes carpooling to events very easy! These are just a few of the many ways we feel we are good for newcomers, if you are interested in joining shoot us an email at HM10thRegiment@gmail.com and we will get you connected to our recruiting officer! We have drill this coming wednesday night in Lexington, MA and it is a great place to meet our members "behind the scenes." We'd also encourage you to browse our website www.redcoat.org and other videos on our youtube page! Hope this helps!

@@HM10thFoot This helps a ton! I'll be sure to send an email and try to make it out to a drill or event to meet some of the regiment. Thank you so much!

I really like your videos for quite a while. Another question, were the hats specifically fitted for every soldier or just one-size-fits-all and adjusted by sewing in additional layers of fabric on the inside to fit smaller heads? I also heard that military cocked hats were ordered and thus made to only be able to be comfortably worn sideways (as that was the military fashion of the time) is that the case? And as always you really deserve more recognition on KZbin for educating the public; this really shows as you have answered every question of me this far. Thank you for this content.

Hi Lego Fan! We appreciate your constant support of the channel and your kind words mean a lot! As for the cocked hats they were made similar to coats: at a regimental level. There is no documentation that tells us exactly how they were fit, though it does mention the cost. Thus, unfortunately we don’t have enough information to fully answer your question. As for the cocked hat being worn in the sideways fashion, this was so that the side of the cocked hat would not interfere with a musket when at the shoulder. Chris the Redcoat did a video on this! Thanks for watching!

Loved the video and this behind the scene video is great. Great to see the lads of the 10th out having fun and Family was a fitting last line. I saw Lenny there, but not out for the march. I assume he held down the home front.

Glad you enjoyed and thanks for watching! Yes he was present but the snow and ice was hazardous. We would hate to lose an officer over a little training exercise ;). So yes he held down the cabin-and did some sewing!
