When i was a cub I had to prove I could set my mum's coal fire to pass my test. If it didn't light properly you held a newspaper over the fireplace opening which caused a huge draught and lots of flame! Newspaper had to be removed quickly!!

Next time you clean a chimney that you've left the stack on in weather, you need to wire brush the inside of the stack off and the collar in the roof it slips over before you put it back together to remove the rust that binds it up. You should have stuck up pipes after that.....

The rum takes the edge off such hassle, but she takes it all in good heart, the plans now a trip around Europe, Her and Bonnie are soon to depart. Ahoi, dear Heidi. When using the chimney-brush, you better can put the one end into a cordless-drill. The turning of the drill will lead the brush to clean and go through the chimney automatically. Much greetings from germany...the british canals are beautifull❤

I can see the appeal of a tight entrance and a well trimmed bush I stuffed my wood stove with waxed cardboard every 3 months and actually started a controlled chimney fire to clear the creosote, not everyone should do that, but it does also burn up all the junk that would fall down the pipe. The point being you could just light a fire in there and that debris would be burned to ash

Unfortunately on narrowboats the chimneys need to be properly cleaned at least twice a year as that’s where most boat fires start … I think it’s the length that causes problems but every boater I know does this

Hi Heidi, I do like a nice big trimmed bush. If your engine oil level is increasing its probably caused by a leak on your fuel system. You will need to remove the covers to check. Do this ASAP as it cause major problems. It may just be a leaking injector pump bleed screw. or leak off pipe connection.

Basically Bonnie is in therapy for what ever reason she doesn't like big dogs and that's a good thing for her, she's lucky to have a supportive family in you and your friends. That is quite a task to clean your flue. By the way did you know you can clean the fire’s glass by using moist scrunched up newspaper dipped in the ash? The installer of my wood burner told me that tip, no need for any chemicals🙂. PS We’re so pleased you love Bonny’s blanket❤.
