Winter Night Snowfall - Ambient walk from southern Helsinki to the city center

Southern Helsinki with its seaside and large parks transforms to a magical winter wonderland during heavy snowfalls. This walk starts in Ullanlinnanlaituri (pier) goes through Kaivopuisto and Tähtitorninvuori parks before ending in Esplanadi park in the city center.

The spot at 32:46 is where I learned to ski living about a hundred meters from there at Berhardinkatu 5. Skating again at Johis not far away either. The sad thing and so very obvious in this video is that nobody can afford to live in those houses anymore so there are no kids running around anymore. Just offices and of course some mostly old and rich people living in that area. Very nostalgic, but indeed not the same active part of Helsinki as then around 1950.

helsinki is such an uninteresting and... in finnish i would say persoonaton kaupunki. PS: olitko ihan oikeesti yöllä etkä iltapäivällä 3 jälkeen liikentees? kun eihän joku vaikka kreikkalainen tajua että täälä keskitalvella on valoista aikaa ihan muutama tunti, ainakin pohjoisessa näin, helsingistä en oo varma vaikka ois 8 ja 4 välillä valoista.
